off tuh werk... well... it's muh Friday... I hate this shift...
I'm planning on an okra...er...hibiscus hedge...
Oh well...
At least Monday's not that far off.
I dug 7 baby yew's out of the front yard. Those suckers have some kind of taproot!
hmmm. okra (OB not LSA) btw, why did we dig out our volunters? Is it to replant elsewhere? Yup, they gots a real good taproot.
Hey! Now there is an idea... We have rabbits galore. We could plant some catnip and keep cats handy and rabbits out!
We are thinking about rearranging the yard such that we have a dog run on one side, play area on the other, and re-orienting the garden. Right now, the garden is fenced off from the rest of the yard, but we do not have a dog run, and the dogs can and often do get into the garden anyway. The yard is a mess, and the kids can't play in it.
In that case, TGIF.
Hmmm. That's pricey logging, have you done a cost/benifit thingy on that? Shade gardening may be in your future. :-)
hey.....free shrubbery. Hopefully ones that look nice.
Well considering that at the age of these trees, they're droppin' about 1,000 acorns and 1-2 million leaves apiece I'm not to enamored with the thought of a shade garden...
Just finished watching March of the Penguins on pay-per-view... very cute movie! And of course, Gidget just ~loved~ it. ;~D
And we're pretty tuckered out, so we'll be hitting the hay before long.
...and extra cute...
For a standard 4' x 8' bed you need 20 16x8x8" blocks: 6 each for the long sides of the bed, 4 each for the short. 'round here they're $1.25 each. They look much better painted. I recommend an exterior-grade paint. Prime the blocks with cheap spray paint to seal up some of the pores in the concrete, first. Otherwise the blocks will *drink* up the latex paint.
One word of caution: they are heavy. It may take a couple trips with van-sana to get them all. It all depends on the suspension. You'll need gloves to work with them. The concrete is vey rough on skin. New blocks are also very messy (crumbly bits fall off, etc). I'd recommend putting a tarp or ancient bedsheet in the van for the blocks to sit on. As Mr. Monk says, "You'll thank me later."
As for me and my garden, I'm so behind with planting I could just cry. Work has had be tied up to an unhealthy degree. Haven't even gone grocery shoppin' to feed my poor, sweet spouse. I left my sprouts out and a frost got my tomaters and peppers. Dangit. Now I'll have to go buy some after spending weeks-n-weeks raising mine under lights. Might get a bit of outdoor puttering done today. Still have to plant two beds and build another. And trellises, I have to build those, too. I think I'm going to do electrical conduit this year instead of a storebought trellis. My plastic ones from previous years got brittle and broke last summer. I need to hurry because the peas are ready to climb. *sigh*
Eastern Shore. Didn't care to mess with I-95 traffic on a Friday afternoon. It was a pretty drive. I was intrigued with how economically depressed that little bit of VA is (the penninsula) and it has no reason to be. That area could be prime resort/retirement-town acreage. But it isn't.
Anyhoo, I was intrigued to read in the commencement program how many degrees Regent offers online. They honored two groups of distance learners at the ceremony. One was about two-dozen Koreans who had earned various divinity degrees and flew to the states to receive their honors. The other was a smaller group from Brazil who had earned degrees in leadership studies. Purty neat.
Made me realize I need to get my act together and get a Masters. The twenty-sumptins are getting theirs.... and I'm not a twenty-sumptin anymore. :(
That's actually changing rapidly. Land prices over there are skyrocketing. Next time you drive that way, take a side detour over to Cape Charles.
Congrats on a fun and successful first trail ride of the season. :-)
I loved March of the Penguins. Really beautiful scenery and story.
Hmmm....seems like even though the the post was by ecurbh, it reads just like Hair's. Is there mischief afoot? *grin*
You know, when people are married, they start using the same smilies :~D
heheheh...
So ~that's~ what it is.....
I've got 7 boxes packed today so far. I started earlier than scheduled, so I may be able to get more than 11 done this morning.
Only 10 more days before my next visit. Woo-HOO!!
How many bags of Pilon should I bring ya? Didja like the other stuff I sent? Want more seasonings and such too?
Isn't that like asking an addict if they'd like a little fix or a lot? LOL... we like it alot, but you don't have to increase your load for us! - ~Too much :~D
The seasonings we haven't used as much... I guess you're going to have to show us!
Good Morning ~ sip ~ great pics of the trail ride and cool gps reading stats. That is one gizmo I may have to get this year. Congrats on staying in the saddle at the creek.
