Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

That was the one you ran away from, right? I remember that story. It was quite interesting.

Every time I mention you to my siblings who were at Entmoot, they say "She's the one who tried to escape from the crazy school place where they were making them pick blueberries, right?"
To: JenB
Yup. I'd forgotten that we discussed it at Entmoot. :-)
I only ran away for a minute though, since my sister was caught and I couldn't leave her behind.

You're nicer than I am. I would have left my sisters and gotten the heck out of there.

LOL!
Blueberries, blackberries, green beans....
The place is still open, believe it or not. But it's an all boys' school now. And the former pastor's son runs it now.

Naaaw. You would have turned back too. Just wasn't the kind of place where you'd leave anyone you loved behind.

Yes. Yes, you did. And you missed both moots since... ShootMoot was excellent. So just try not to miss future moots, wedding or otherwise. Your HH membership card is up for renewal and you need that stamp ;-p

Back. Got a gas can. Now I'm wondering how I fill the darn thing without getting 'sploded, and how to fill the mower, ditto.
Gotta take about a second to fill a can...I'm afraid I'll spill gas everywhere.
And speaking of fires and all that...I'm really thinking of running out for a cheap little hibachi. I betcha I could get something that small going OK, and then I could save up for a real series grill, albeit a small one.
To: Corin Stormhands
Oh, like not being invited would stop you.

Rose: thanks for the heads up. We checked our local weather site and it says "flooding conditions" however the wind has picked up. About par for the course, I'd say.
It does appear that 2J could be in for some weather.

Well...I bought gas and filled the mower all by myself. Ain't ya proud of me? ;-) Of course, I spilled a TON trying to get the spout to work, but I guess now I know.
And the lawn is done, or most of it. I'm sure I missed places, and also there are some spots I'll have to get with a weedwhacker. The lawnmower started making a horrible knocking sound, but it was still working, so I ignored it. Women drivers...
And now I smell like sweat and gasoline and grass and dog poop (the last being just on my shoes, fortunately). Ah...the sweet smell of spring...

I've got birds playing in the sprinkler - set it up over a spot where the grass just isn't growing as it should be. I also put down more seed...hoping they aren't partly there stealing it.
To: JenB
Oh, like not being invited would stop you. Well, there's that.

It could be that the ground is just not warm enough yet for the seed to sprout.
The birdz were splashing around in the puddles I've got standing in theyard.
