The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I have a question.

Why does Mr. Beepy decide to have a wild party, invariably, the night before I travel or have a test or otherwise need to be on my game?

I swear, I didn't tip him off about your test...

Off to bed myself in a sec. No Mr. Beepys here...woo-hoo!

Goooooood Morning!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

And payday, too. Hurray!

I've got the raucus music on as a warning to all who dare tread in the office today. It means Lil' is under the gun to get something done. I have a vey big deadline coming up. Everything was planned to finish on time - each step is on the calendar and tracking. And then - get this - we're told we're getting new furntiure and carpet (what we have is nearly a health hazard). So we'll have to pack everything up and move out so the new stuff can be moved in. That means I have to accelerate everything by several days because I'll be without computers at a key time. Eeeek. I might have to freak out.

Build a mound of coals, soak well with lighter fluid, apply match, stand back.

Or you could get one of those electric lighter thingies.

With this, you mound your coals over it and plug it in. If I remember correctly, you leave it on for about 10 minutes before taking it out. Remound the coals and let them burn until you can see the inside of the pile glowing and about 1/3 to 1/2 of the coal surface is ash. Spread the coals out into a single layer.

It usually takes me 15 to 20 minutes from start to griling ready.

They also have charcoal that you can light with a match without using a starter or lighter fluid, but I think the meat comes off tasting funny.

Good morning.

Steve said that he should finish what they've asked him to do by tonight.

I know I've said it before...but it really should be the very last draft. The advisor *told* him if he gets this bit done, he'll sign him off.

My goal for today is to take down the chicken run. Every time I look out there, my eyes seem to automatically look for my girls. You know, every morning, after getting up and drinking coffee, I would go out and make sure they had feed for the day, check their water, fetch an egg if needed. I would check on them several times a day, look at them, visit with 'em.

Even during ShootMoot, I frequently would go out and check on G'nad's chickens, out of habit.

I feel a bit at a loss. It seems to have just now dawned on me...the last couple of days have been too busy to hardly think about it.

So I'll tidy up.

Heard the other evening...

Luke: Today is Jr's birthday. He's seventeen.

Nana: You'll be seventeen one day, just like him.

Luke: But Nana, you'll be gone by then...

So where would that put him in terms of graduation? Could he still finish this term?

You know I'm not so sure he hasn't picked up on that from her. She frequently talks about all the people who have gone to heaven.

For a while it bothered Luke so much he kept saying he didn't want to give Jesus his heart (he thought it meant physically) and he didn't want to go to heaven because "Papa went to heaven and he had to go away."

He worries a lot about Mom and Dad getting old like Nana.

We've had to do some damage control there.
