Six Injured in Pit Bull Attack
WXIA-TV ATLANTA ^ | 15 April 2006 | Suzanne Marques

Posted on 04/19/2006 11:26:29 AM PDT by Wristpin

people including two small children and a police officer were attacked Saturday afternoon by pit bull. The incident happened in front of a house on Maplehurst Street in DeKalb County, witnesses said.

Neighbors said the attacked was unprovoked but the dog's owner told police that several neighborhood children had been harassing the animal.

A neighbor said the pit bull first attacked the dog owner's daughter, then tuned and bit him in the arm after he stepped in to defend the child. Witnesses said the animal later attacked two other children and their mother before police arrived.

An aunt of the two of the children said her nephews sustained serious injuries in the attack.

"The four-year-old has a gash near his eye and the gash is large enough to put your hand in", Altrosia Tookes said.

"My seven-year-old nephew, he got gash in the back of his head that looks like someone just pulled his skin off. He's in surgery now."

I can tell you beagles like to bite a lot, but a quick smack to their muzzzle stops that real fast.

You might be right...key word being "bite", not "maul" or "kill".

With 20 million illegal aliens from Mexico and OTMs from CA and SA living amongst us...

Expect to see ALOT MORE of these Pit Bull stories...

They love their dog fighting and the low lifes who promote and indulge in such activities generally could care less about collateral damage...

Even the SE Asians who live in WI are now indulging their death fantasies in this dog killing blood sport.

imo

They need to make Dog Fighting a big time felony. It is a misdemeanor still in some states.

This may be a bit off-topic, but since we're talking about animal attacks, has anyone seen the video of a gang attack of a Las Vegas sucurity gaurd? A pack of wild animals attacked him for no reason at all. He survived, but the animals will not be charged with a hate crime. I didn't fit the criteria.

I think my beagle is genetically incapable of biting. He won't even fight back when snapped at.

Nothing I taught him, he's just that way.

If I get up to investigate a strange noise at night, he's got my back - literally - he will stay behind me. He is loud though.

We have a friend with a doberman. A 2 year old child was in the room with it and started screaming bloody murder. They came in to find her with her arm down the dog's throat. It turns out the dog had eaten her candy, and she was going in after it. The dog didn't hurt her in the least, even though she shoved her hand down his throat.

"Taunting" is not an acceptable reason for an attack.

No word yet on what will happen to the animals."

Meaning, I presume, the owners.

There is no acceptable reason for an attack like this...I think the owner was trying to rationalize his decision to own four Pit Bulls.

Not just Dobermans. My sister owned a Dachshund male who turned very tempermental as he got old. Tempermental in a dog that can rip lumber apart with his teeth is very bad especially when little grandchildren might be around.

One day he decided to bite my sister on the breast. He was cold meat at the vets inside of 24 hours.

A grouchy Daschund cant do this even if it wanted to...

"Once the girl was transported to Kosair, doctors there told the sheriff that child's hair and scalp had to be found and delivered or she would die. Shoffer said he had to cut the dog's stomach open to find the scalp, which was then rushed to the hospital, WLKY reported.

Family members told WLKY that the doctors reattached the majority of the scalp, but added that the girl still might face more surgeries."

Let's remember that the daschund was originally bred to go down holes after badgers.

The daschund I'm writing about a full size specimen with a big powerful head and strong shoulders. With the set of teeth he had, he certainly had the power to inflict serious injury if he wanted to.

I personally watched him disassemble a doghouse (as in batter it down, separate the boards from the framing, and bite them into fragments) right before my eyes during one of my visits to my sister.

He might not have been able to reach your scalp (at least until he knocked you down) but below the knees you were all his.
