A 27-year-old expectant mother died in a head-on collision Sunday on U.S. 31 in Shelby County, authorities said.
Sarah Porter, 27, of Jemison died in the 11:20 a.m. accident, said Sgt. Tim Sartain, Alabama State Troopers spokesman. She was six months pregnant, said Doug Ballard Jr., Shelby County coroner.
Her husband, 29-year-old Heath Porter, remained in critical condition at UAB Hospital Sunday night, said Bob Shepherd, hospital spokesman.
Marco Guarviola, 26, address unknown, a passenger in the 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck that collided with the Porters' 2002 Volkswagen, was also taken to UAB Hospital, where he was listed as critical Sunday night, Shepherd said.
Manuel Valdez, 22, address unknown, who was also in the truck, was taken to Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Efforts to reach a hospital spokesman Sunday night were unsuccessful.
The accident, which occurred in the Saginaw community just south of Alabaster, is under investigation, Sartain said. He declined to provide details.
Several serious accidents have occurred at the site, Sartain said.
"I don't understand why so many accidents have occurred at this particular location," Sartain said. "Traffic is moderately heavy, but the street is a straight, two-lane stretch."
Accident fatalities are always sad, Sartain said.
"But this happening on Easter Sunday is such a tragedy," he said.

Radio, Tv reports. Tune in tomorrow and listen for yourself.
BTW, I am working on a newsletter for clients that employee Spanish speaking individuals.
Could you point me to some copyright free materials that you might be aware of?
We are focusing on safety, diversity and health.

I've got plenty of sources, I am trying to narrow it down to what Spanish speaking employees might be interested in.

Of course not. Why am I not surprised?

This has gone on far too long. It's clear you are never going to say the words, "Your request for proof is fair, and I don't have any" or "I'm sorry I attacked people simply for asking". That's all anyone wanted... You made it worse, and not better, by implying someone's FRMail tip about the race of some of those arguing with you was both interesting and relevant enough to post about.
Ruthy didn't ~get~ anyone to do anything.
While some of us came to the defense of a friend because she deserved it. Many of those asking you the same questions don't know Ruthy or the Hobbit Hole from Adam. The question was a simple one, and a fair one.
Without a source that these two men are in fact illegal Mexicans, it is poor form, poor activism, and grossly irresponsible to assert that they are. You have done so in both your original headline, and subsequent posts. Proof of assertions is a good thing. It keeps everyone honest, and prevents any of us the embarrassment of letting someone like you bait us into calling for these guys' heads on a platter IF they turn out to be legal and/or not even at fault in this accident.
If that were to happen, no one who called for caution will look like a fool. Innocent until proven guilty is one of our best ideas yet in this country.
Your behavior on this thread, in addition to the assumption of guilt on anyone who is [Mexican] has proven we were correct to not be too eager to jump on your bandwagon. It was going in a direction most FReepers would be smart to not want to go. YOU are the one who would make FR look bad if you would have continued unquestioned.
The lesson? Be VERY careful about your facts and your proof if you intend to make allegations. And if you're going to make race an issue, make sure it's relevant.

"While some of us came to the defense of a friend " What did she need defending from?
She called all of you Holer's over here to trash this thread, plain and simple.
Job well done Hole.

Ever occur to you that "Spanish speaking employees" would be interested in the same things that "English speaking employees" are? I have to confine the newsletter to our clients request. It's purpose is to help educate the Spanish speaking employee regarding the 3 listed issues and find materials that do that.
It's assumed that the English speaking employee is
a. already educated about safety issues.
b. has easier access to said materials.
These newsletters will be a service to the Spanish speaking employee.

She didn't call me. I saw you guys goin' at it because you were all over latest posts!
And I think we've thrown more light than trash on the thread.
But I s'pose that's open to interpretation.
It would have been really easy for you to have ended this a long time ago. Just would have taken a little humility.

When you have people on the job for years who speak the language, yes, it is assumed that they are aware of certain safety issues and such like.
When you give people a chance and hire someone who doesn't speak the language, it's considered helpful if you try and educate them to the perils and or issues of the work place.

Which should read exactly the same in English or Spanish.
