Breaking overnight from Chris Cummo at ABC GMA:
Case against at least one Duke defemdant unraveling fast.
Defendant Seiligman went to bank ATM while rape supposedly happening.
12:02 Time stamped photos show girl arriving. Girl leaves, comes back, call friends on cell phone does other things. 12:19 Seiligman calls cab dispatcher 12:24 Seiligman takes cab to bank miles away, uses ATM card (photos show it is him.) 12:42 after walking back to dorm, Seiligman uses security card to enter dorm. Does not leave.
Also, Seiligman was never interviewed by cops. DA seeking reelection simply took "Dancers" word that he raped her.
Fox is reporting that they expect the latest DNA test(I'm guessing the hair samples)to be released at anytime...
I'm pretty sure this was a cell phone camera and the time is sent via carrier signal.
Has that been reported?....
In many cameras the timestamp is part of the image. It's likely that these were cell phone cameras - I believe that most of these embed the timestamp into the image if that feature is turned on.
Even if the photos are examined and determined to be 100% authentic with no alteration, the prosecution will still plants seeds of doubt into the jury. Most people aren't very tech savvy and they think that all kids are master hackers.
AV ID'd the accused because of scratches on their bodies, per Fox. Pics were taken of all the guys without shirts on.
So, DNA will be found under her nails, right?
That is the camera of choice for students for spontaneous photos. Many kids use their cell phone camera to take photos of their daily life and then post them on MySpace with commentary.
The other stripper was also upset when she found out that they had taken photos without her knowledge. This makes it likely that it was taken with something not very obvious. Most camera phones don't have flashes while dedicated cameras do.
Right, if there is any DNA...I thought the nail DNA showed nothing..
I completely disagree.
You listed some very decent questions before you contemptuously dismissed them.
Hey, let's let the truth be sought here. No one, in this episode, including Nifong, is exempt from having his/her behavior and motives carefully raked over.
When a defendant throws out an alibi, you believe in just gulping and saying, "Oh, sorry to have bothered you?"
Being a stripper does not justify rape. Hiring a stripper does not make you guilty of rape. But the parties on both sides of the episode, through their reckless behavior, put themselves in a bad spot. Yea, alibis, as well as accusations, will be skeptically and carefully looked at, as they should be.
This one probably will - do we know if was DNA off of her body? They could have easily tested for DNA off of obvious sources such as bath towels or something like that.
That makes his theory of no DNA under her nails because they were wearing long sleeves, seem a little...well, silly.
So does my son...but he also uses his digital all the time...and from what I've seen of phone-cams is they are not very clear....in these pics they were able to read the time on some of the boys watches.....
I'm wondering how and where they were scratched if they were wearing long-sleeve shirts. Never mind, it's probably better to stay off that subject.
Incredible as it may seem, my fairly new Motorola V170 fliphone does not yet know that it is daylight time.
I have to set the time and that is what time the phone thinks it is.
I haven't heard anyone mention this, but in the search warrant, the victim identified her attackers as Adam, Matt, and Brett. The accused men are named Reade and Collin. Does the search warrant use the real names given by the woman? If so, this is yet one more discrepancy that the DA must account for.
I think they did test the towels, rugs etc in the bathroom and they found the DNA of the 2 or 3 boys who lived in the house...not surprising...

I am a little nervous about these result because of how shady the DA has been.

Cops will often claim that if you on't answer their questions, you are obstructing an investigation. There is no such crime. A cop told me this once and I informed him, that asserting my constitutional rights cannot be a crime. Then told hinm to get off of my property or he would be charged with trespassing.
The players who voluntatily took off their shirsts for pictures made a stupid mistake. If it was 8-9 days after the 'alleged rape' any scratches present at the time of the rape would have been gone and a number of opportunities for new scrapes would have occurred. It's not like these guys stopped playing lacross on at least a pick-up basis.
An honest judge would not have willy-nilly signed such a search warrant without probably cause. At best, an honest judge would have only allowed it for a suspect picked out by the alleged victim.
This is the biggest travesty of justice I can remember in years and I'm steaming mad.
