Battlestar Galactica co-star Tricia Helfer ("Number Six") has been honored with two Leo Award nominations, just announced by the Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of British Columbia. The prestigious awards recognize excellence in film and television produced in British Columbia.
Helfer has picked up a nomination for Best Lead Performance By A Female in a Dramatic Series for the Galactica episode "Pegasus," the show's only nomination this year. The actress played the dual roles of Number Six and another copy of the Cylon, abused Pegasus prisoner Gina.
The only other nominee in the category is Erin Karpluk, for Godiva's episode "Fancy Footwork."
Helfer has also been nominated in the Best Guest Performance By A Female in a Dramatic Series category for her role in The Collector episode "The VJ."
Also nominated this year is actor Michael Hogan ("Saul Tight"), who received a nod in the Best Lead Performance By A Male in a Feature Length Drama category for A Simple Curve. And actress Leah Cairns ("Racetrack") was nominated for Best Supporting Performance By A Female in a Dramatic Series for Godiva's.
The eighth annual Leo Awards ceremony will take place on May 12 and 13, 2006, at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver. Visit LeoAwards.com for a complete list of nominees.
