While I want a younger wife to raise a family with 40 years difference is way too young.

Oddly enough there's a young girl at church who makes my heart ache. I'm way too old for her and yet I don't have any sons to marry her off to. What a waste of a great girl that I have no way to get into my family. Bummer. (She's both very cute and very sweet. and she also bakes great bread.)

I know that God will bring me the perfect woman at the right time.

Sort of OT. My cousin's married neighbor had a 'boyfriend' visit one night and the husband came home unexpectedly. The wife threw the boyfriend's clothes out the second story bedroom window, so the naked guy jumped out the same window and broke his leg. The entire neighborhood found out when the ambulance arrived.

I like Art and the show, but man, this is just way to weird. I remember hearing him on the show a few weeks ago saying he was going east for a while.

I knew that he was going to the Phillipines, but figured it was more on a mission to find out about the culture and history of Ramona.

Isn't it, in general, kind of a good idea to get to know the person you marry for more than like a week?

I've never understood why so many military men don't marry American women. There are plenty of sweet American women who would love their husbands and be loyal to them and not be marrying them for money or U.S. citizenship. Your theory is interesting, but I think there must be something more to this phenomenon.

Yeah, I heard Art Bell yesterday where he got remarried and he is moving to the Phillipines. I still like the guy but I wonder if he is running on all eight cylinders. He's selling off all his things, giving up his cats and so on. I could never give up my kitties, heck, we spent almost $800/$1000 on one of our cats, Greystone, to keep him alive only to lose him yesterday to his kidney failure. I wish the guy happiness but him to do this, there is a side of my wondering if he is acting a bit loopy. I'll still listen and let time and myself judge on that one.

IMO, he went round the bend in '93.
I had listened to him nightly when his show was political.

I first found him in early 1995 tuning around the AM band DXing as I had trouble sleeping from the pain of a car accident I was in and on medica leave. Art kept me company many a night. Back then, IIRC, that was at the tail end of the Brady Bill passing in 1994 and it was still a hot topic. I liked it when the show was directed by the callers although having guests were cool too. I remember the political stuff, I always laughed so hard when "Dr. Democrat" and "Charlie Liberal" called up as well as his battles with J.C. from Texas who says, "he will burn in Hell." I also remember when Hale-Bopp was big too. As to Art, I'm wondering about him, but the only thing is to wait and see, maybe he will be happy and so forth, but I do concur, it is a bit sudden.

Yeah, I do agree. Although I do have reservations and questions as you can see from my previous posts, I'm willing to see where this ends up, it is his life after all. Of course, this was like in the early 20th Century so things were a bit different then, I had a great-great uncle who came over from the Jewish part of Russia. He was a concert level violinist and madea somewhat famous name for himself and was charged with bigamy by his wife but he was acquitted (or the charges were dropped) and they ended up divorced. When he was 45 or so, he settled into a Jewish section of New York City and much like in "Fiddler on the Roof," the local lady matchmaker (A big Jewish custom) matched him up with a 16, 17 or 18 (she was around that age) girl to marry and they lived happily ever after. I guess with this in my family history, I'm willing to keep an open enough mind to see what happens but there are other times I'm scratching my head. I'm more perplexed at him moving to the Phillipines though, maybe Stan Deyo told him it will be a safe place when 2012 hits or something. B-)

I won't dispute you...you saw that stuff. Maybe that's a thing for Filipino girls IN the PI. In Alameda, it looked different to me there.

I also saw that behavior or the results of that behavior when I was on a ship in Bremerton by many Filipina wives of American Sailors as well as when I was in the P.I.

My supervisor almost lost his sanity after his Filipina wife stepped out on him while deployed on a WESTPAC. Even got knocked up by her boyfriend and got an abortion before her husband got back. I saw other guys having similar troubles with their wives as well. One poor guy wasn't even certain whether one of his kids were really "his".

More of these Filipina wives of American Servicemen worked in the bars of Olongapo, the Barrio, Subic City, Angeles, etc. than did not. I'd guess that maybe 4 out of 5 of these wives were working in a bar in some capacity when they met there husbands, who probably happened to be a "customer" of the bar in some capacity ;-)

One good thing I did (of a very few) when I was "Station Dito" in Subic was not get married there. I was 18 when I got there and 20 when I left and at the risk of sounding arrogant, I saw right away that it would not be a good idea to marry a bar girl. I was one of only a very few in my small command to both arrive and leave Subic single. We only had about 35 people in our little command and I would say that around 28 - 30 of the guys were married to Filipinas (mostly all bar girls).

We had an old expression about most Filipina wives; "You can take the girl out of the bar, but you can never take the bar out of the girl".

I'm sure the woman eventually did get caught by her husband, along with whoever was her "date" for the night. I'm sure my buddy wasn't the first or last to have to make a quick escape out the back window :-)

I got an interesting question. I remember Art's son was molested by an AIDS positive teacher several years ago, I think it was 1999 or 2000, he was 16 then so he must be in his early 20's now. I wonder what happened to him and how he is doing and maybe his thoughts on this, well perhaps we will nevr know the last part. Was Art married prior to Ramona? I think he was and his son is from that marriage if he was. Anybody know?

90 days since Ramona's death. How convenient that Ramona is "out of the way" so a "maybe legal" hot teeny bopper can take her place. How convenient to plant the idea that this new wife was directed to Art from the "here after".

Anyone ever see the coroner's report or death certificate on Ramona? Anything that might be of interest?

It sounds like Art is jumping into a relationship based purely on lust, but I wish him luck. I'm more worried about his show. He'll be broadcasting in the middle of the day from a highrise in a huge urban area after years on the late night shift in his desert hideaway. I'm afraid he'll be out of touch with what's happening in North America, and won't there be an annoying overseas delay when he's talking to callers and guests?

I predict that he comes back within a year -- probably without his child bride.
