I had a good friend retired from the Fire Dept and went on a 6 month motorcycle trip.
In Alaska on a blind curve a car when left of center and killed him.
Motorcycles are, by their nature, dangerous.
I sold my Harley right after his accident.

The husband of an acquaintance worked on airbags. After the airbags came out, the motorcycle industry hired him to see if they could make the bikes safer.
Conclusion: NO.

I sold my Harley right after his accident. - when I was a kid my cousins got minibikes; we almost had Dad talked into one and the neighbor boy down the street tried to outrun a train on his new motorcycle, he lost his head, the police found it in his helmet. We never got our minibikes, but we did not complain too loudly.

I remember one day I was riding down the street when I spotted an old man sitting at a side street a block and a half in front of me waiting to pull out. I got to within about 100 feet of him when he turned, looked at me and proceeded to drive right out in front of me. I nearly laid the bike down trying to avoid him. I still see the surprised look on his face when he saw me - it was like, "hey - where the hell did you come from!?"

(Someday we'll look back on all this and plow into a parked car)
