Civil action possible in South Park furore

An Auckland priest has failed in his bid to bring blasphemy charges against CanWest, but the fight is not over yet.
Father Denzil Meuli complained to police over the Bloody Mary South Park episode, screened on TV channel C4.
The episode caused outrage in the Catholic Church, after it showed the Pope and a menstruating statue of the Virgin Mary.
But the Solicitor-General has said no to taking a criminal prosecution against the broadcaster.
Father Meuli is taking the rejection well and says there are a couple of other initiatives he is looking at pursuing.
But he says apart from praying there will be no further action until he has had a chance to ponder the options.
Father Meuli says he could take a civil case against CanWest, but that would take a lot of consideration.
He says he has received wide support for his stand against the programme.

..thankfully the US has something called FREE SPEECH...Yeah.
Sorry I've got your nose out of joint by delineating the difference between those who respect that right, and those who abuse it.

I know :)
I'm just pulling his chain about meeting Gay Aussies. Actually the 3 I worked with in Iraq were anything except Gay. They were ALWAYS chasing if you know what I mean and it was ALL female.
But I did it to prove a point. He admits to not watching South Park, yet makes the same stupid generalizations the others do about the show with the same amount of experience.

Libertarians like Parker and Stone save their greatest viciousness for Christians.
Absolutely. They wouldn't have the courage to do a cartoon about Scientologists.

I can't help but remember that Twain quote about it being better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Personally I can't figure out why these people can't turn the other cheek.

I reached puberty *before* that show hit the airwaves.
I agree ... I've long said that any adult who watches a cartoon has an under-developed sense of humor. South Park is nothing but fart jokes and potty-mouthed 4th graders.

It's just like that silly debate that rages on FR about WHO is a "true" conservative and who isn't. It's the friggin Internet. For all I know you could be Howie Dean and I could be James Carville (I have my hair so I'm not trust me). :)

..and ugly? Moi? Why I'm hurt my friend...Hey, that wasn't my description. That was from Deb, back when you guys were having -for want of a better description- one of your online lover's tiffs. (PS 'big enough and ugly enough' a common Aussie term of admiration, check Google.)
...I love the pics from Zombie. It's good to see the face of the Enemy revealed in all it's glory ain't it. Why do those people always have to be so...well...just plain butt ugly?...
.Dunno. Was it Forrest Gump who said 'ugly is as ugly does?' We've got Coulter and Malkin, and they've got Hillary and Helen Thomas.

Well have fun, it's almost time for another demonic show to come on. (Stargate Atlantis)
I just hope my mom has my bed made and clothes laid out for tomorrow.

Has South park done any episodes against the Hindus or Buddhist yet? They already have done episodes poking fun at the Muslims, Jews, Scientoligist, and Christians. I still think the funniest episode was when Cartman was pretending to be retarded so he could compete in the Special Olympics.

I'm not being flippant, but I don't see it as mocking. Menstruation is normal. Nothing dirty, disgusting or gross about it. How can a perfectly normal occurance be mocking? I know that Mary, Mother of Jesus, is held to high standards, but she was still human, just like all the rest of us human females. Everyone knows we menstruate. We were made that way.
