DURHAM, N.C. - Time-stamped photographs will show an exotic dancer was already injured and "very impaired" when she arrived at a party where she claims she was raped by members of Duke University's men's lacrosse team, an attorney for one of the players said Sunday. ADVERTISEMENT
Durham attorney Bill Thomas said some of the photographs, taken when she arrived at the house, indicate the woman was injured before getting to the party March 13. They show extensive bruises and scrapes on her legs, especially around the knees, he said.
"This young lady was substantially impaired. She had fallen several times during the course of the evening," Thomas said.
He declined to identify the player he represents and said he would not release the photos, taken by at least two cameras, until pending DNA tests are completed.
He also wouldn't say whether the photos were taken by a lacrosse team member or someone else; court documents have indicated that only team members were present at the party.
No one has been charged in the case, but the allegations that members of the nearly all-white team raped the woman, a black student at a nearby university, have rocked both Duke and Durham.
The allegations have led to the resignation of coach Mike Pressler, the cancellation of the lacrosse season and the suspension of one player from school.
Several dozen people gathered Sunday outside the house where the party took place, and pledged to return each Sunday until the case is resolved.

Sorry. I took too much time using the correct title!!
And when the case is resolved with a finding that the 'ladies' made false claims in search of a healthy payday, will they apologize?
NO! They will join the Al FecalMadder Sharpton for prez tour!

The district attorney has yet to show his evidence. But if it is proven that the woman lied to the police--thus destroying the lives of not only the Duke athletes, but also their families' lives, than that woman should be handed the same punishment a convicted rapist would receive. The false accusation of rape is too often used as a weapon by vengeful women.
A really good source of what is new and relevant in this case is : http://dukenewsense.com/blog/dcu.html. It is the blog of the Duke Conservative Union. I am very impressed with the factual and fair minded information presented there.
And the President of Duke fired the coach and destroyed the teams' season. If these allegations turn out to be true, then it's time the president was fired.
Whether she was impaired before she went to the house or was injured before then, it's irrelevant. She did not ask to be gang-raped. Let it play out. the truth and the evidence will point to who is right in this case.

It would be an appropriate sentence, but that isn't going to happen.
The problem with rape as a crime is that it ultimately hinges on consent and an activity that may not leave a clear trace. Either party can lie about what happened and whether or not consent has been given, with the rapist claiming that nothing happened or consent was given when it wasn't or a person claiming they were raped claiming that something happened that didn't or that no consent was given when it really was. Often, there are no other witnesses or recordings of what happened, so it's a "he said/she said" situation.
In a society that assumes innocense until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt, any woman making a rape allegation is required to prove something for which the evidence may be unclear and the most important evidence is her word. Don't be surprised if the guys get off here, even if they are guilty, because she not only has to prove sexual activity but non-consensual sexual activity. And despite what the judge might tell the jury, the fact that she came there to take her clothes off is going to create reasonable doubt over whether she'd consent to have group sex with a bunch of guys.
Forget all the allegations of crime, assume they are false, even defamatory, etc.
Isn't anyone bothered by the fact that a college lacross team hired strippers for a party? And isn't it even more disturbing if the dames showed up sh*t-faced? It's hard to see these fellows as having good character, even if they are not rapists.
