I didn't notice the article mention how many dogs.
Also unusual to have the owner so readily agree to have them euthanized.

There was a poll with the article. A lot more people think people should be allowed to own pit bulls than not so far.

[The owner of the dogs said she had no idea how the dogs got out her yard.]

Sounds like the owner probably has very little idea about anything. She is definitely part of the problem but so are the dogs. I'll probably get flamed but there are just too many of these events taking place with Pitbulls.

ANY Pit Bull found in my yard is sumarily dealt with using an effective combination of smokeless powder and lead. The lead may, or may not, be jacketed.....

Their rampage ended with a policeman shooting one of the dogs.

One???? Didn't he have any more bullets? I thought Barney Fife died. It should have been a shooting gallery.

Bet that felt good. Hope he had a good hard swing.

Hi All-

Seems to be a bit of pitbull terrier hysteria on this thread. My little cutie lived to be nearly a decade old and she was convinced she was a lapdog. She was athletic, strong, and provided my family lots of laughs with her antics. It's all about the environment in which they're raised.

What struck me as odd.

PitBulls go on rampage through Philadelphia

The dogs escaped from their backyard at 53rd Street and Cedar Avenue and ran several blocks through the neighborhood

Philly has shrunk?

I'm waiting for the dopey posts saying "all dogs are nice it's just bad owners..." Dogs have individual characteristics just as people do. Some are more agressive, some more gentle... ARGH!!!

As the saying goes, PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED. JEEZ, has anyone of you people ever even OWNED a pit bull?!?!?! People can't continue to blame these poor dogs for the actions of owners who inappropriately raised neglected them. It's as though their is some big conspiracy circulating to rid the world of these POOR DOGS! What ever happened to the idea of knowing the facts before you are quick to come to a conclusion?! There is this crazy misconception in the media that ALL these dogs are untamed beastS just waiting to victimize people. But, in reality, who are actually the victims here? Stereotypes as usual continue to steadily deteriorate our societies as sure as the stars remain in the sky. People can't expect to build trust or strong relations in an age where communication is becoming ever essential to our advancements if they continually choose to remain IGNORANT of facts(and YES, this does go way beyond the stereotypes simply inflicted upon these dogs)!!!!! A poodle who is improperly raised can be just as cruel as any pit bull, but because of the breed's sheer strength and drive, the damage inflicted by a poodle does not surpass that of a pit bull's. These dogs aren't wild beasts that the media and UNKNOWLEDGEABLE people are continually claiming them to be! No! In reality they're actually very loving, loyal, and protective pets if they are raised properly in a stable, loving environment. And no, these are NOT the words from a respectable breeder who simply wants to alleviate the bad hype surrounding these dogs so that I can continue to make my profits, but actually, THESE ARE THE WORDS of a PITBULL and DOG LOVER who has raised four of these dogs over the past 15 years - and here's the SHOCKER! - I had my first pit bull at the age of 8! Now, go on and throw your plentiful sarcastic remarks at my response, because unlike the majority of you, I can actually give a VERY legit opinion on these dogs simply because I HAVE experienced everything there is to experience with living with these dogs, since I have WELCOMED, RAISED, TRAINED, AND CARED FOR THESE DOGS FOR A GREAT DEAL OF MY SHORT LIVED LIFE!!!!!
