Is ousted "American Idol" contestant Mandisa anti-gay? The 29-year-old soul singer and outspoken Christian, who was voted off the hit Fox show Wednesday, says she would not perform at an event held in support of the gay community.
Mandisa, a native of Antioch, Tenn., tells Advocate magazine, "Based on what I believe, I'm not an advocate for (being gay), so it's nothing I would take part in."
Still, she says in an interview in the magazine's Web site, she's "really upset" by speculation she endorses the ex-gay movement _ a collection of Christian groups that seek to alter sexual orientation. The speculation stemmed from comments she made on the "American Idol" Web site praising author and speaker Beth Moore, of Living Proof Ministries. Moore's Web site has links to groups such as Exodus International that discourage homosexuality.
"It broke my heart," Mandisa says. "I live my life by the value system that you treat others the way you want to be treated. I let love be my guide. I absolutely hate no one."
Long a favorite of "Idol" judges, she says her views "could have contributed" to her surprising elimination. "Idol" contestants are trimmed weekly based on fan voting.
"Honestly, I'm not sure," she says. "I've heard a lot of different theories about what could have happened, and all of 'em sound pretty decent to me."
"she says her views "could have contributed" to her surprising elimination."
Maybe, just maybe, it was her physical appearance and lack of star-power lyric talent that cost her the competition.
The Gay Mafia will never stand for this.
Mandisa is gone.
And here I thought it was just a sing competition...silly me.
Now if you heard her singing on the radio would you still be so superficially prejudice?
Uh. Well. She lost. Period. Doesn't matter what I think.
A singing competition? No. It's an "image" - the "American Idol".
It's all about money. Her image was not widely marketable.
Radio? Sheesh. Welcome to streaming video on demand.
Prejudice? No. I heard her sing plenty of times - enough to recommend to my wife that Mandisa needs to pursue a career as a back-up vocalist.
Poor girl wasn't equipped to answer these questions. She means well, but she is falling in the trap set by the gay activist rhetoric. She needs to disregard their bogus charges and just speak the truth about the depravity of this sin. The sin needs to be condemned. The sinner needs a Savior. That is the only way to love them with God's love.
Article states...
"....ex-gay movement _ a collection of Christian groups that seek to alter sexual orientation."
Wrong! They offer help to those who desire help in overcoming same sex behavior.
eff them.
So, explain Ruben?
Why on Earth should she be forced to say anything she doesn't want to? Her opinions are her opinions. So SHUT UP AND SING only applies to the left? I'm confused.
In related news: Ryan Seacrest sheds a tear.
You answered your own question. Ruben's career has been what since Idol?
A big guy like Ruben is seen as a "teddy bear." A big ol' woman like Mandisa (and her outfit was the worst possible a big woman can wear) is seen as just big. Queen Lateefa is probably one of the very few big women who look beautiful -- partially because she is proportional.
It ain't fair, but it's life.
My comment was about her response. She was asked about her opinion because she brought up Beth Moore. Is she not even allowed to say a person's name without weighing her associations and enemies?
this is ridiculous. And once questioned, she is entitled to respond and I'm entitled to critique her response.
Someone told me the reason you don't see Ruben around is because the AI people dropped him because of his 'entourage.' He acted like gangsta with his posse and the AI people told him to screw off...anyone know any more?
First that I have heard of this 'story'. She was voted off American Idol -is there really a 'homosexual' story here? LOL
All I can glean is that possibly some homosexual agenda activists attempt to insinuate some kind of recognition or a victory of sorts where there is none???

Taylor's performance last week was the worst of the night and the competition and yet he received more votes than anyone. He should have been the one to go. Clearly there is more than talent being considered here.
Agreed. Being fat is a far worse sin for women than it is for men.
