MEMPHIS, April 4 (UPI) -- Country music star Hank Williams Jr. Tuesday surrendered to police on charges he allegedly assaulted a Memphis waitress.
Williams, 56, cut short a hunting trip after learning a warrant and an all-points-bulletin had been issued for him, E! Online reported.
With his attorney in tow, he reported to Shelby County Sheriff's deputies and was booked on a charge of assault with intent to commit bodily harm.
Holly Hornbeak, a 19-year-old Memphis hotel bar waitress, claimed Williams cursed at her, asked to kiss her, then lifted her up in a choke hold when she refused just after midnight on March 18.
Williams' publicist, Kirt Webster, released a statement saying his client was a victim of greed and extortion would be proven innocent of the assault charge.
Webster said Hornbeak's attorney demanded "an outlandish amount of money" to settle out of court and when Williams refused, threatened to file suit against the singer.
I'm not a country fan at all, ...and All I know of Hank Williams Jr. is what I've seen of him at the beginning of Monday Night Football.
Hank could have been involved in a little HankyPanky...or it could be a waitress trying to milk money out of a star. Thus far, I don't have enough info, or know enough about him to make any kind of judgement.
But, I haven't seen this posted on FreeRepublic yet. Have at it.
Hardly the Worst Mugshot Ever.
Ten years ago I might have believed it. The last couple of years Hank has settled down a bit. Not saying he couldn't have done it, just saying that extortion by the waitress is just as likely.
Still not nowhere as bad as Glen Campbell's mugshot (2003) after kneeing a police officer, or Nick Nolte's mugshot in Malibu a few years ago.
Nick Nolte wouldn't look this good sober and after a good night's sleep.
I've heard him interviewed. He did lead quite the wild life but not cut down on his tour dates, has enough money and is in to raising his kids. He's been on with Hannity to promote his activities raising money for the miliary families.
Please, put the sunglasses back on!
Bocephus! Say it ain't so!!!
"Are you ready for some Jukeball?"
Ten or twenty years ago, I would have taken a waitresses' word about something like this. But NOW, everything could go either way. The finger in the bowl of Wendy's chili comes to mind.
Are you sure Hank done it this way?!
..I'll wait for the movie
Doogle
Btw, He can't sing, either. If he is what country music is about these days I'm glad I'm not a fan.
Man, if he shaved he'd look like a little kid.
Whiskey Bent and Hellbound!
Did he at least leave a tip?
Maybe not. But the mug isn't so great.
He is lucky to have a face at all. A couple decades ago on a hunting trip, he took a very bad fall down a mountain. It literally tore his face off.
