Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.

Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 144th place (with 1,045 CPUs - 24,200 completed Work Units and nearly 4,000,000 points)

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)

Looking at the "Last 7 Days Production" table, it seems that we've been consistently producing around 45K points each day since 4/9.

That is a miserable number. I hate it when I land anywhere near it.

I bought a pc from the floor in Beast Buy. They supposedly cleaned it and reloaded the oem stuff. I got it home, scanned it and found 3 viruses. I can't remember what they were, but one was big in the media at the time.

"I'm almost afraid to say this, because somebody is going to change the rules on me, but,

T.G.I.F. !!
WooHoo !!!!"

dagnabit - I missed it.  It just blew right by me, and I'm STILL WORKIN'.

Did we have a weekend????

Somebody help me, I can't get off this merry-go-round.

Stop the World, I want to get off!

BTW, does anybody know when Easter is this year?  I so need a vacation, and I'm really looking forward to Easter - what? - no, it can't be - please tell me I didn't miss Easter, too.

AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!

Easy there RT !!! Most folks won't tell you this, but Easter has been rescheduled to the third week in July. Also, anyone who has missed a weekend in the first quarter, will get the months of August, September, and October off.

I found this out in an email sent to me by a co-worker's sisters friend who's the brother-in-law of a midget Latino amputee zoo worker.

I'll be OK

Man, am I glad to hear that - can't wait 'till I can sit back, relax, chug a cold 6-pack, and do some fishing.

Woohoo!

I accomplished both my goals:

1. Top 20 folders on the FR team

2. Top 5% folders overall

Now I can coast...

Slump Bump.

I'm going to tank for about a month as a good dozen or so of my machines go offline(they'll be back, just doing a move). Lrenh will blow my doors off very soon. :)

Fear not, it's all for a good cause. You'll get used to being #3 :)

Speaking of getting the doors blown off, how did LSimpson beat us down with 22 WUs all posting at 9:00 last night?? He/she rang up 5,258 points in one sitting!

My having a year-long headstart in this race doesn't matter much when the big boys show up. Maybe I can find a public library somewhere ...

The great news is the we are consistently posting 40,000 to 45,000 points now. Just a couple of months ago we celebrated hitting 10,000 ppd.

I had something similar once. One Monday I came in and 20ish machines all sitting on the same switch couldn't phone home. I restarted the switch and they all dropped their payload in the next 30 minutes.

That's probably right on the network connection. Still, 22 systems is gonna leave a mark when LSimpson blows past me and a few others.

At least you are safe ... for now ...
