Last night, I decided to see the movie "Syriana".
I went in with an open mind and tried to rate the movie like I would for any other.
On a scale of 1-10, I gave it 7 1/2.
Why? The plot was interesting and honestly, it was not an inconceivable one. Sometimes, it is really "all connected".
Sometimes, I had problems following the flow of the movie because it would jump around between the major characters too much.
The script did not always identify some of the minor characters either and that led to a little confusion while trying to sort them out and figure out who was on who's side.
His politics aside, George Clooney did a respectable acting job. However, I do not believe that his was worthy of an Oscar for best supporting actor. I wonder if his Oscar was more for the political nature of the movie. I think it was.
I'd like some input from other Freepers out there who may have seen the movie. Did you like it? Why? Did you hate it? Why?
Putting money in Clooney's pocket or any far left actor is nothing to be proud of. This is the biggest problem we have, conservatives give money to left wingers by using many corporations, businesses, and actors.
Reviews say its 'confusing'.
Am gonna check it out anyway this week sometime.

I have not seen it but I understand that it suggests American policy is controlled by oil interests.
I think that is one of the most outrageous central lies of the anti war movement.
Sudan provides 7 percent of China's oil. That is factually why there is no war in Sudan.
Oil was used to block military action in Iraq. Saddam offered billions in bribes to France and Russia via oil contracts.
It is the global leftist axis that makes the most basic human threat viable-- tyranny.
Syrianna is just another rhetorical prop in the propaganda war against war.
As long as actors stay on a screen, I have no problems with them. They need to shut up and act.
why pay to see a propaganda movie? you can get the for free, just watch CNN or MSNBC.
I just watched this on an Iberia flight from ORD to MAD.
Essentially, it is a rehash of the Redford flick "Three Days of the Condor" in that the US/CIA will do ANYTHING for oil, including murder.
The problem with the movie is its stereotypes. The CIA and oil companies are pure evil. Arabs would like to be good, but are dupes of the CIA/Oil companies who keep the area in turmoil. If only we left them alone they would be good international citizens.
Of course, Clooney et al ignore the fact the Islam murders people across the globe in areas having nothing to do with oil. They forget to mention that point.
Clooney? An average acting job, no academy award winning performance. Just the liberal line that Bush/CIA/Oil is evil and Islam is great (if given the chance).
I have seen this film (on rented DVD) two days ago. It is quite good, it shows the complexities of Middle East and does not demonize any side. I would give it the same rating as you ("On a scale of 1-10, I gave it 7 1/2."). It can be very educational for the Westerners.
