Belgrade daily Blic published a September 12 story on the so-called export trump cards for the Serbian military industry. The daily said that the most attractive local military products are the M84AB1 main battle tank and the NORA B. howitzer. The M84AB 1 main battle tank is a modern version of the M84/84A and M84AB. The tank is the modified Yugoslav version of the Soviet T 72. In the 1980s several hundred of the tanks were manufactured, including 150 which were sold to Kuwait. The Serbian media continue to give the tank mythical traits, citing rumors from Desert Storm. The press said at that time that the M84 tank proved to be better than its western rivals, including the M-1 Abrams. The modernized version the M84AB1 has been exported by the Serbia and Montenegro (SCG) military exports company SDPR with the help of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro (VSCG) and teams from the VSCG and general staff but also the Defense Ministry in cooperation with foreign partners. Blic said that several local factories are involved in upgrading the tank with most of the work being done by the Technical Maintenance Depot in Cacak and the turret being made by the Lola company in Belgrade. The new version of the M84 has increased fire power with a four-channel targeting device which allows day and night fire as well as in low visibility conditions at ranges up to 5,000 meters. The fire power of the new version was presented to traditional buyers in Kuwait a few months ago. They were offered the purchase of the upgraded M84s. According to SDPR promotions chief Aleksandar Lijakovic, the Kuwaitis saw a presentation of the new protection of the tank with second generation reactive armor and a system to protect it from guided weapons and other precise munitions. Lijakovic said the new version has a built-in command information system which allows the tank to integrate into modern-day combined formations in accord with Belgrade’s Euro-Atlantic desires. He said that the possibility of precise rocket fire up to 5,000 meters, the tank becomes an important weapon in support of counterterrorist operations. He said that this is of great importance in populated areas since a precisely guided rocket fired from the tank allows strikes with a minimum of collateral damage. Lijakovic said that the new version of the M84 will be shown at the greatest arms and military equipment fair in London and added that interest in it has come from the Middle East, south-eastern Asia and Latin America. The London fair will also feature the NORA B, the self-propelled howitzer, which has a range of over 41 kilometres. The gun’s automatic loading system allows a rate of fire of three rounds in 20 seconds. The SDPR says that the new technical characteristics of the howitzer allow three rounds to hit the same target with the use of manoeuvring trajectories. The self-propelled howitzer includes a new fire control system and command information system.

No man...
AT-11 with 4000 meters range.
Abrams don`t have something like that, and M-84 got explosive anti-personall rounds.
I belive that German Leo-2 is better than Abrams.
Anyway,
M-84 got Anti-missile protection, thermovision, anti-mine system and uses AA MG from within.
The M1A2 is capable of engaging tgts out to 4000m (and did so during OIF) with the sabot and 3000m + with the HEAT round. And the fire control system is better than anything on any ruskie tank, including the T-90. The AT-11 may have a max effective range of 4km but it's a low Pk shot.
This is the money shot for export.

Concur. Though the Serbs have been doing surprisingly well with small arms lately as well, selling large numbers of M-53 machineguns, [MG42 copies] M84 MGs [copies of Russian PK/Pecheneg MG] and their TAR21 version of the Israeli Tavor bullpup assault rifle. As well as other subdry novelties....
Don't forget the M64-M70 Zastava rifle series, which is the Yugoslav verisons of the Kalashnikov series.
I bet you can't say that in Wu. But nice tagline.
Thanks. I borrowed from a master.
