Jesus does love you but does not share a hatred of homosexuals OR Hillary Clinton... and the Log Cabin Republicans would find it funny to be accused of self hatred.
We Republicansdislike and fear Hillary Clinton and her political philosophy. Besides, she has ugly legs.
Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.
Trade with Cuba, China, and Vietnam are points of discussion with both Republicans and Democrats arguing both sides. Proximity and economic impact have a lot to do with who we choose to trade with. Economically boycotting Cuba has a better chance of altering their form of government when the boycotter is the primary economic power in the neighborhood. Is not trading with Cuba a good idea? Both Democrat and Republican administrations have maintained the boycott for over 40 years.
The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.
Both Republican and Democrat administrations have supported the United Nations when their resolutions agree with our foreign policy and national interests... and have not blindly agreed to every whim of an organization that is rife with corruption merely because it is "international". Some things the UN has done are correct... and in the interest of the United States to support... many are not.
A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.
The decision about "her own body" is not permitted when the issue is cutting out and selling body parts... say a Kidney... so let's not weasel words here. The issue is the discontinuation of the life of another human being... killing a human being... something the public covenant has reserved as the prerogative of the state unless it is done for self preservation. The Government also has a duty to defend the Civil Rights of all human beings... including those most in need of protection; those who cannot defend themselves. A decision made for mere convenience that deprives one of the three parties involved of their rights SHOULD be a serious matter.
Multinational corporations are and should be regulated where the United States has Jurisdiction. The statement misrepresents the positions of the vast majority of Republicans.
The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
No "Slashing" of benefits or combat pay has been proposed or passed. Passing INCREASES that don't come up to the extreme demands of Democrats (Who would never have proposed them if they were the majority) does not equate to "cuts."
If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
Accepting the distribution of condoms THROUGH schools accepts the authority of those schools to undermine the teaching and authority of the parents. Condoms have a 6% failure rate. Providing condoms without providing teaching on the benefits (both societal and personal) of abstinence, is tacit approval of the activity that is the primary cause of female poverty in the US... Sex and unwed motherhood.
A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.
Legitimate demands that "allies" fulfill their obligations in Treaties that they have signed is not "Belittling". We cannot force them to live up to their legal obligations. It is particularly offensive when we learn that these same "allies" have been secretly and illegally, in violation of internationally agreements, been aiding and abetting the enemy.
France provided Nuclear materials and technology to Iraq, Germany provided equipment designed and intended to produce Biological agents including WMDs, Russia provided funding and military equipment including missiles that were in violation of range requirements of the disarmament treaty agreed to and signed by all parties. The United Nations officials provided billions of Dollars for Food but accepted bribes and kickbacks to allow the funds to be spent for weapons. With "friends" like these as allies, maybe they SHOULD be belittled!
Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
Iraqis, as a defeated people, became the responsibility of the United States of America until their own institutions were replaced. As such, the people of Iraq were our "dependents"... our "Chattel" so to speak... until such time as they could again care for themselves. It is appropriate to provide health care for dependents.
The CITIZENS of the United States are not dependents or chattel... they are free and responsible persons who are capable of caring for themselves.
HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.
This is just false. Republicans recognize that any company has its own and its stockholders interest as primary. We do, however, believe that the marketplace and our tort system will correct and punish corporations that do not provide value and meet their contracts. With judicious regulation, market forces and individuals looking out for their own self interest will provide the necessary guidance for such organizations.
Incidentally, HMOs were a creation of the DEMOCRAT controlled Congress! Democrats were also responsible for the passage of ERISA, which transformed Health Insurance companies providing insurance by contract to employees into Employment Benefit Providers providing services to the EMPLOYER and removed many of the requirements that they honor their contract to the employee. ERISA essentially took these companies out from under regulation of State Insurance departments and put them under the very limited regulation of the Labor Department.
Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.
While there has been a demonstrated causal link to a half a percentage point increase in the RISK of contracting Cancer from the use of Tobacco products, no such link has survived peer review for "second hand smoke" which has been used to prohibit smoking even outdoors.
The concentration of "second hand smoke" even in a very smoky room is far below the direct inhalation of tobacco smoke experienced by a smoker... thousands of times less... yet the "junk scientists" claim it is MORE dangerous than personal smoking. Despite the debunking and revelations of fraudulent data in the "second hand smoke" evidence, it is still being used to advance a politically correct anti-smoker vendetta.
Global warming may be a fact... but the causal link to the activities of mankind is another thing that has not been proved. To accept that Terrestrial Global Warming is caused by man would require that the observed Global Warming on Mars, Triton, and Uranus be also somehow the fault of Man... despite the fact that man's interaction on Mars involves about seven landers (and crashers) weighing less than 1000 lbs total and that Triton and Uranus have no direct contact at all. The politically driven conclusion that Global Warming is the fault of mankind or even in humanities control ignores the much simpler and proved cause of a slight increase in the Solar radiation being given off by the Sun.
A Healthy skepticism IS the conservative reaction that should be used for such extraordinary claims... especially when those making the claims are hysterically calling for DRASTIC economic measures that would adversely impact the standard of living of our Nation.
Creationism should be taught in the schools as just one of many alternative theory to the unproven theory of evolution. The arrogance of the schools in deciding that a belief held by a large portion of the population has to be ignored (At best) and actively denied (at worst), despite the CHOICE of those who believe it, is wrong in a democracy. The Constitution holds that government shall not make any law that prohibits the free exercise of religion... which includes prohibiting the ridiculing of someone's religion in government schools. Republicans SHOULD hold the the complete reading of the Freedom of Religion clause of the First Amendment.
A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.
Clinton was not impeached for lying about an extramarital affair. President Clinton LIED under oath in a court of law in the United States, committing a felony. He, as an officer of the Court, and under Oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and under another Oath to tell the truth and nothing but the truth did not. He broke the Oath to tell the truth... and by doing so violated his Oath of Office. He was rightly and justly impeached. Too bad he was not convicted by the lily livered members of the Senate.
Bush did not lie. Every word he spoke was the absolute truth. His sole accuser, Ambassador Joe Wilson is the PROVEN serial liar who also violated HIS oath of office that is not abrogated by no longer being in office as an Ambassador. Wilson's own report from his amateurish investigation and tea part visit to Nigeria actually SUPPORTED the claim that Iraq "sought" quantities of yellow cake Uranium... and 500 TONS of Yellow Cake Uranium was recovered in Iraq.
Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
Creating the institution of Gay Marriage by judicial fiat is not supported by the Constitution. Few Republicans advocate censoring the Internet... more censorship has been at the hands of LIBERALs than has been seen at the hands of Republicans. Some anti-speech laws should be abolished or ignored (a Constitutional cure... ignore the offending unconstitutional law.).
The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.
Hillary Clinton's cattle trades were done while her husband held a position of trust... Governor of his State... and smacks of a back door bribe. It is appropriate for the public to know. A 30 year old driving record (with no conviction) is not probative of the current abilities and fitness for office of a candidate.
The two are not equivalent. One implies criminal conspiracy and public malfeasance... the other, youthful error.
Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.
The laws under which most drug addicts are arrested and convicted were passed and enforced under both Democrat and Republican administrations. However, There is also a difference between persons who seek out, purchase, and take non-medicinal recreational drugs and those who have become addicted through attempts at controlling intractable pain from recognized medical conditions by prescriptions from qualified doctors. Again, the cases are not equivalent. In addition, other liberal celebrities who have admitted even recreational drug use and have gone for rehab have been lionized by liberals as role models... but those same liberals will demand the book be thrown at a conservative who does the same. That is the true hypocrisy
What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s was a POLITICAL ACT and is therefore germane to his role as a POLITICAL LEADER. There are piles of evidence that Bill Clinton lied and committed fraud to avoid the draft and also colluded with our rivals. What Bush did in the 1980s has no evidence that he did what he was accused of and has been specifically denied by him.
Support for hunters who shoot their friends and blame them for wearing orange vests similar to those worn by the quail is expected.
Even the victim of the accident admitted that he violated proper group hunting safety protocols that every hunter knows. It was an accident.
The statement "Friends don't let friends vote Republican" shows the controlling and totalitarian thought patterns that exist in Democrats.
(Exception:: gay men should not have to pay for anything. All of their expenses should be taken care of by the rich racist, bigoted republicans. )
If you're a Republican, you have to deal with the pressure of almost always winning Presidential elections (7 out of last 10, IIRC) and having "dumb" candidates like George W.
Bush who defeat the "smart" ones like Gore and Kerry.
-------------------------------------------------
"Democrats need a new choice"
Democrats, for God's sake, wake up! Kerry has indicated he will run again for president. He is the reason we have President George W. Bush for a second term.
Al Gore gave us the first term. When is the Democratic Party going to stop acting like the donkey that usually represents the party in cartoons? Find a strong person, or the voting public will again vote the lesser of two evils. I personally am undeclared and voted for Bush because I thought, and still do think, that he was better for the job than Kerry.
Massachusetts voters cannot spell anything but Democrat, and therefore we have a senior senator who wants to legalize anyone who sets foot on U.S. soil and a loser trying for the White House again.
Democrats, I know that somewhere there is the right person who is a party member. Find him or her before we wind up without a choice.

From the People's Republic of Mass...where Dems hold just about every office. "The right person" for the Dems for Pres.--what a laugh!!!

However many libs try to make the point that we are causing Cuba's poverty by failing to trade with it ...completely ignoring the fact that Cuba is poor not because we don't trade with it but because it has a Marxist economic system which is designed to create poverty wherever it is used. Cuba is free to trade with the rest of world, but is still the poorest country in Latin America save Haiti.
I like your post because it reveals the truth: most people do not believe 100% of what the opposite side thinks they believe. Many people may have certain beliefs that put them into one or the other political camp, but many have beliefs that do not coincide with other members of their party. I would hazard to guess that most conservatives strongly believe in free-market economics, a strong military, and as little intervention from government in their personal lives as possible.
Apart from those three core beliefs, I have known many Republicans who, like my wife and I, are not religious. However we both have a strong belief in traditional morality and are not afraid to call ourselves Christians. I'm sure there are many other Republicans who have beliefs that are not necessarily those of the stereotypical so-called arch-conservative.
And the same holds for Democrats. Many Dems I know own guns, like to make money, are for stiff punishment for criminals, are anti-affirmative discrimination, believe in individual liberty, etc. Many are ex-military and are proud of it. In my experience of over fifty years, it's not easy to pigeonhole people politically. It's just that they keep voting for leftist nitwits like my senator Russ Feingold.
Don't get too upset, and thank you for being a fellow Freeper. Unfortunately we do have our share of paranoid crazies. Don't let them get you down.
My friends and family are still shocked at my conversion to being a Republican something that happened ten years ago. One close friend recently whined that I used to be such a good liberal. I replied that I wasn't a liberal, I was a Democrat. And an ignorant one. It's only when I started doing things like going to the library and reading Conservative Chronicles, Commentary, and National Review i.e getting the truth, that I realized I was in the wrong party.
I suspect that there are millions of other Democrats who think like conservatives, but vote for Dems. Maybe someday they'll have an awakening after realizing they've been lied to by Dem pols and media types all their lives. Such as when recent documents have proven Hussein had a business relationship with Al-Qaeda unlike what the lying media said he didn't.
Thanks for sending that along! Those were a hoot!
Yep. That pretty much wraps it up for me.
Well, you got off easy! At least the one that calls me a sanctimonious ass did not find you! There are FReepers ... and there are FReepers. When you post a message, of any sort, you take your chances. There is no way to know how your post will strike whoever is killing time on FRee Republic at that moment. Some seem to have no life away from their keyboards. Others have incredible, enviable technical abilities. Others are just garden variety bullies who really do have their own agendas. Most are just ordinary folk like you and I.Take it as it comes. Learn from constructive criticism ... improve your posting skills. There is plenty of how-to information on FR if you just look for it [HELP is a good place to start].
Most of all ... just have a good time. Otherwise, it is not worth the effort to post anything.

Thanks for the ping. Excellent response. Didn't have time last night to respond to the original post, only tried to straighten out the formatting.
After my friend cools off from having sent the above two rebuttals, I'll send yours. It's eloquent and truthful. You're a blessing to FREEP. Thanks so much.
thanks muleteam for straightenign it out, and no; I had no idea how to do it. I know I'm a loser and a nitwit!!!
