I read that Taylor had picked out "Try a Little Tenderness" as his classic love song, and they told him (2 days before the show) that he couldn't do that. Said it wasn't a classic love song!!!!BTW, where do people get that kind of information?
I'm getting sick of watching them screw Taylor. They are all about the bottom line, huh? What about all the people out here who vote for him every week. He has had the greatest fan base of anyone else so far.
I think Taylor is paying for Simon's shortcomings. Simon doesn't understand any market but the "pop" market, apparantly, and he doesn't know what to do with Taylor. /rant
To: I'm ALL Right!
I totally agree with you. Normally I don't vote, but I'm a Cingular customer and I'm using both phones to burn up the lines texting for Tay Tay.
It's so weird that Simon says he doesn't know how to market Taylor. OBVIOUSLY there is a market for his music. People love him.
Just hearing people talk about music, many are sick of what is out there now. It's so weird that instead of seizing the opportunity to market to a much larger demographic Simon chooses to not break out of his comfort zone.

That's too bad, because I think Taylor would be great with
Rubberband Man.

In this particular case, Taylor's father was on the Paul Finebaum radio show in Birmingham and made the comment. For those that don't know/care, Finebaum is a sports talk giant (asshat some think) in Birmingham but he also dabbles in other noteworthy events.

It came from the horses mouth, Nigel Lythgoe. He's the executive producer for AI. I agree that Taylor is paying for Slimon's ignorance of real music. Good Lord the man is responsible for the Spice Girls and Il Divo.

"Why do you think her comment was nasty?"
Nasty was probably not the best word....I'd say more like conceited.
First...Seacrest asked her about being in the bottom 3 and the comment was implied as "OK, I've been in the bottom several times but I'm really better than these others because I've not been in the bottom 2."
Second...she probably WAS in the bottom 2 last week because they never specified the order of the bottom 3. They just put Chris and Ace together at the end for "drama."
Anyway...I thought Mandisa was the "strongest" female this season but she had a bad week (only 1 compared to Kellie's 2) and it cost her. (Not to mention whoever advised her to wear horizontal strips and jeans! ouch!)

"You don't have to have nefarious reasons to prefer the other contestants."
Very true...I'm rooting for Taylor and Elliott this year. But I still think McPhee is the best of the "top 3" females this year....Mandisa was better but I've posted on that already.
If she wins (which she won't) she WOULD be the 2nd weakest female...(including runner ups)
From best to worst:
Kelly Clarkson
Diana DeGarmo
Carrie Underwood
Katharine McPhee
Fantasia Burrito

It was a stupid question to ask a 17 year old. I thought she was trying to make a joke of a pretty tough situation that Seacrest uses to highten the drama of the evening.
"Yeah, I know, I have been in the bottom 3 more times than I care to remember."
"I have been here so many times I have forgotten."
"Well, I guess I am not as good as the other contestants."
Good for her for having a sense of humor.

I'll be there with my daughters. Which, admittedly, will make it difficult to hit on Katherine. Life is more fun with a challenge or two thrown in.

The thing with Katharine though is preferential treatment. Was it "preferential treatment" when the judges slammed on her on the results show for "Songs fromt he 21st Century" after praising her on performance night?
Every year I've watched, the judges, especially Simon, occasionally throw out "correction" statements, both positive and negative, on results night after watching the playback. This year, Kat's gotten two, one positive, and one negative. Why is everyone so worked up over the positive one?

Why is everyone so worked up over the positive one?
Because this one fits their AI is manipulating the votes and fixing the contest conspiracy, and the other one doesn't. If AI was trying to fix the contest, I sincerely doubt that we would have had 50s week, "standards, and "all-time great love songs" 3 out of 4 weeks.
First, AI was pimping for Kellie (yeah, those weeks helped her so much). Now AI is pimping for Katherine and Chris. Please, one Queen week and then a bunch of themes that doesn't help Chris at all. Gimme a break!
If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd be saying that AI was pimping for Taylor, Elliot, and Paris. After all, the theme weeks have been right up their ally. (Katherine, too, but I'm going to ignore that. It wouldn't fit my conspiracy theory. ;-)
Sorry, but in my opinion this is a 4 horse race (Paris is just too young and there's a disconnect in her performace versus non performance demeanor). We all have our favorites and we all have at least one, maybe 2 people in that 4 horse race that we don't like.

Buble's- "Save The Last Dance For Me" is in the top 10, so it might be that.

That juicy piece of information came from non other than Nigel himself during an interview, the day after the program I think it was.

Knowing what we now know, that Katharine's father went over to the judges table and cornered Paula while Randy and Simon hid behind her, to complain that his little girl was being dissed, I'd say they gave apologies under duress. jmo
