Chris could sing anything by Lifehouse...Would love to hear the Foo Fighters or Shinedown though (both on the Mainstream Rock chart)...:-)

1989(Paris)

Sheesh, I must have stopped listening to pop music sometime before 1989 because I don't recognize many on this list, and the ones I do know seem wrong for Paris.

Wow.....I was a junior in college that year. That list brought back some memories. FWIW, the fall of 1989 I dressed up like Robert Smith of The Cure and sang Love Song and Just Like Heaven on stage during my fraternities Halloween party....yes, I was drunk.

They also didn't apologize to Kevin Covais for comparing him on screen to Chicken Little. I thought that was extremely nasty and uncalled for.

True. It's one thing to joke about it on a board like FR, but quite another to drop it on him in front of tens of millions of viewers.

On the other hand, the sympathy vote from that did keep him around a couple more weeks...

Can anyone say Comfortably Numb?

With its obvious drug references, I think the producers would nix "Comfortably Numb" -- AI is still sold as a "family show".

But, he has to live with that now, not only at school but in the real world. Would you like to have that moniker foisted on you?

At least until more buttons start popping. :)

1985(Katharine) Dunno. "Everytime You Go Away"(Paul Young)?

There have been no problems with Bryan Adams clearances, so "Heaven" would work (already been done by Elliott, though) --- again, I'd use the more recent dance version by DJ Sammy Sam as the basis to give the song a bit more energy.

Tina Turner's "Private Dancer" will take advantage of Kat's better lower range, and give her a chance to do something a little different that a power ballad.

Power ballad options include "Suddenly", "You're The Inspiration", and, as you already noted, "Evrytime You Go Away".

If I were advising Kat, I'd go with "Private Dancer".

Didn't seem to apply to Paris's version of Beyonce which was an obvious reference to, ummm, gettin busy:

But I get a knock on my door
You know it's yours for sure
We can't wait for the bedroom
So we just hit the floor

Or Kellie's Fancy about a woman who encourages her daughter to go into prostitution.

I'm not sayin' they're consistent... :)

Clearly, some things are deemed "more acceptable" than others.

I saw Kellie on the tonight show with Jay Leno last night. She was pretty funny.
They wanted her to spin the "Wheel of Consolation" and the "prizes" were:

1) Cameo in a movie
2) Go on tour with U2
3) Your own NBC TV show.

Guess what she asked Jay??
"What's a cameo?"
Kellie is still our Gherkin!

Seriously, she did a good interview with Ty Treadway on American Idol Extra (I get it with DirecTV). I don't care what everyone says about her "persona," she still seems pretty sweet. During the interview, she said she thought she deserved to go home because she had 2 bad week.

BTW...Paula was also interviewed and she said that Elliott is the most consistent of the group as he's never had a bad vocal and gets better and better each week. She also appeared partially sober when she said it!

Go Elliott!

I saw the interview on AI Extra. Frankly, she seemed like a different person. The accent was not nearly as noticable. She didn't say anything stupid. Seemed like a normal person. Either her stage persona was very different or AI set her up completely by editing it.

Yes! Way to go! Elliott has really improved each week. He's never gone "backwards" as they say on Idol. What a future ahead of him.

VOTE FOR THE WORST ENDORSED TAYLOR HICKS !!

Here's what they wrote about why they did this ...

--------------------------------------------

And we have selected our new VFTW candidate: Taylor Hicks! We even did our banner in grayscale as a tribute to our new pick! Why have we picked Taylor? Well, this show is not made for Taylor Hicks. He shouldn’t be singing songs from the 21st century or be limited to Idol’s cheesy song catalog. That’s not his style, and I’m sure he joined the competition to try to bring something different. The producers don’t want something different though, and it’s obvious that they’re breaking his spirit, even going as far as to make him change his song at this last minute last week because they didn’t see “Try a Little Tenderness” as a love song. What? That doesn’t even make sense. Tay-Tay is also incredibly VFTW because he either goes all out and acts crazy to entertain us (remember him missing the mike stand during “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” anyone?) or he phones in his performances while looking bored (”Just Once”, “Country Roads Take Me Home”).

Simon Cowell also hates Taylor, as is evidenced by his reaction at his audition and his reaction each and every week. Simon wants Taylor out now, because he can’t stand to promote someone so unmarketable. So what do we say? Stick it to the show and vote for Taylor! He has the Soul Patrol, and now he has us, the Asshole Patrol! Hopefully we can work together to help Taylor win this thing!

Me too. So what do you do, vote with phone calls? I'm ready to sign on for this week at least...but I have never done this before.

Hi MarMema, don't know if anyone's had a chance to answer you yet, but here's what you do.

Each week the remaining contestants sing, then a phone number is put on the screen. People who want to vote for that contestant will call that number. It's simple. You can call as many times as you want, and you can vote for more than one contestant.

Now that we're down to the top five, the contestants will perform two songs every week beginning on Tuesday. You can vote in your time zone for two hours beginning after the show ends. This week they went to two phone numbers per contestant because of the call volume. So have a piece of paper and a pencil handy when you watch the show on Tuesday night, write down the two phone numbers for Elliott, and call in to vote. Be prepared to keep trying, because the lines will be busy due to the volume of calls.

America loves a dumb blonde! Hey to Marilyn Monroe, Pam Anderson, Suzanne Summers, Christina Applegate (Married with Children character), Phoebe (Friends), et al.

Yep, it's a tradition going back to the great comedienne, Carole Lombard, maybe further back. The girl is a potential gold mine for any manager and producer out there looking for a dumb blonde type.

Did you (ie "y'all", out of respect to Kelli) ever see the TV sitcom WKRP IN CINCINATTI in order? Well, Loni Anderson's character started out as a total dingbat dumb blonde receptionist. As the show evolved, she brought the character along to the point where part of the sly humor of the show was that Loni's character was the brains behind the disfunctional mess.

Kelli could do a role like that, and bring it along.
