I always watch the show again and close my eyes the second time. I totally agree with you on Taylor and Paris - their vocals were far better than the judges allowed. Taylor's lighting was horrible and Paris looked a little funny too, so I think it cannot help but sway us visually, subconsciously or not.
8521 has a link to a YouTube clip that has her entire performance.
The point where she takes a big drop and her knee pops the button is pretty funny.
Don't know what today's rumors are, but DialIdol has them ranked this way after last night:
Taylor Hicks 26.01
Chris Daughtry 25.95
Elliott Yamin 23.72
Katharine McPhee 22.46
Kellie Pickler 19.42
Paris Bennett 17.36
Interesting that they have the three girls in the bottom. Not sure, but I think this is the lowest Pickle has been. Also, Taylor and Chris are a virtual tie.
I would think Pickles before Taylor. I think the bottom three is going to be all female.
Could DialIdol be off this week, since two numbers were used for each performer? They have been pretty accurate the last few weeks.
You have a good point. If I were in the contestants position, it would make my head spin. Especially if some of the advice was contradictory.
And their appearance. Look what they did to Mandisa, yhen Ace, right before they got the boot. hmmm look what they did to Pickles last night! that hair! lol
I was looking around the forums at dialidol and they took into account both numbers. Those stats should be accurate.
It's certainly possible. The way I understand it (and I'm not sure I DO understand it fully), the guy who started DialIdol wrote a piece of software that people can download to their own computers. The software uses the broadband connections of the people who download it to track the number of busy signals for each phone number.
So I assume it would make no difference to the software how many phone numbers were being tracked. As long as you know the phone numbers and which contestants they are assigned to, it should be an easy task to add the total busy signals for the two numbers for each contestant.
The statistical theory behind what the software does is pretty sound. The contestant with the greatest number of busy signals is getting the greatest number of votes. DialIdol's samples are large thanks to the thousands who have downloaded the software, which is why they've been pretty accurate. I think I read somewhere that 15 out of 18 times (or something close to that), the person they had at the bottom went home that night.
(BTW, I would never download a piece of software like that, because there would be no protection against its possible malicious use.)
BTW, just breaking - the top AI dog Nigel confirmed that Taylor had to change his song mid-week. He chose "Try a Little Tenderness" (perfect for him) but it got poopcanned. The brains at AI said it wasn't a true love song that Bocelli would sing (as oppoed to Bryan Adams I guess)
What's this ... "real life" ... you speak of? ;)
Thanks!
I wonder if they think Paris has a large fan base. I would think that they must know that she doesn't.
It's been raining all day and night here too :)
Taylor should get AI to sign off on what he wants to sing before even starting to practice it. I thought they have a list that they have to choose from. If it wasn't a true love song why was it on the list?
I don't have any polls in front of me, but I think the NC votes are more behind Chris than Pickler.
Yikes!
LOL, I thought so too. But it (whatever "it" is) is too high and off center, IMO. It's probably a piece of tape.
