I liked someone's suggestion that he should have sat on Simon's lap -- with the only really "safe" group in the room! Would have got a big laugh. It really would. But some smart-arse (like me) would've said, "Oh that was was sooooo staged!" :)

Rod Stewart sits on the couch with the "Idols." What a class act! And regardless of whether it was an "act" or not, he really came across as sincere.

it should have been the Pickle.Yep. At the very least, she should've been in the bottom three. Chris definitely shouldn't have been there.

Chris was great last night. His only problem was going first. "Great" is an exaggeration. Much better than expected? Sure. But not "great". If you still have it on TiVo, play it back but listen instead of watch.
Chris was, at best, the 4th best singer of the night, and probably 5th (Elliott, Katharine, and Taylor were clearly better; Paris is a toss-up). With The Pickle™ in no danger of making the bottom three thanks to voters who don't care that she isn't very good, 4th best of the night when there were seven singers still spells bottom three.

Did you happen to catch Mike Gallagher talking about AI?
It was before the boot off show aired and he was saying that if Pickler wasn't kicked off there's something really wrong with the show.
To: silent_jonny
In Season 3, George Huff was in the same position and he refused to make the choice--he stood alone. The audience applauded. Class act. Actually, that's not right. He did choose one group -- the one with Fantasia, LaToya, and Jennifer --and was wrong.
I believe it was Bo last year who refused to choose.

And regardless of whether it was an "act" or not, he really came across as sincere. I think he really is that sincere. Even during the rehearsals, Stewart seemed completely at ease and comfortable around the singers.

Ryan gets to the final result quickly it seems, and announces that Ace has been eliminated. He is still smiling! I think he truly is okay with this, has decided it's all good. Ace tells Ryan he had a blast, and can't wait to perform with all of the top ten this summer, and see all his fans that saw him on TV. His brother, who has been with Ace every step of the way, stands up in the audience and shouts loud approval for his little brother. Every contestant, every week, should go into the eliminations assuming they're the one being cut. This will let them handle it gracefully if it does happen...

It was before the boot off show aired and he was saying that if Pickler wasn't kicked off there's something really wrong with the show. It's not the show. It's the American Idol watching people.....Too many of them are suckers for "image". Of course, a lot are young and don't know any better. Too many people think she's "cute" and feel sorry for her and that's why they vote. Some because of her talent (singing talent). But a lot for other reasons completely unrelated to artistic ability. Unfortunately, that's why this is NOT a singing competition. Never has been. It's a marketing competition. Period.
Look at the recent Billboard charts. Filled with "musicians" like The Pussycat Dolls, Pink, 50 cent, Gwen Stefani all singing inane songs with sampled music all to make a buck. True musical talent and artistry doesn't sell to kids with 15 second attention spans. They want simple lyrics, simple music and flashy personalities. Popular music is as deep as the consumers who download it...

I have to disagree. Paris is the one that shouldn't have been in the bottom 3. IMO, and I don't care for her, she was great. But Chris was the best of the bottom 3:) It should have been Chris, Ace, Kellie.
But I knew she wouldn't go home, and probably wouldn't be in the bottom three. She played her screw up great. Was that deliberate or just dumb luck....????

She played her screw up great. Was that deliberate or just dumb luck....???? I think it was deliberate, but she should only be able to get away with that gimmick once. Next week's theme should favor the same contestants as this past week (Elliott, Katharine, and Paris), which I find very odd scheduling. They should have thrown something inbetween "American Standards" and "Greatest Love Songs". It probably came down to scheduling issues with the guests...
