You know, I actually really liked Rod Stewart last night. I think I expected him to be sort of snooty or haughty, but he seemed sort of like a regular guy you would talk to at a pub. I thought he was much more likable then Kenny Rogers.

I agree 100%. I think Stewart and Manilow have given the contestants good advice. I thought Roger's was very disappointing all the way around.

Rod thinks that Kellie Pickler is a firecracker. Then it’s time for a typical Kellie moment. She says she needs to have the words close by just in case, and Rod jokes that she should get the lyrics, too. Kellie says, “Huh?” and he has to explain that it was a joke.

They talked about that on the radio too. They commented on how can she have been singing in pagents, and in the show 'Gimme the Mic', where she came in second and not know that the words and lyrics were the same thing?

Kenny seemed kind of distant. Rod seemed like he was having just as much fun meeting the contestants as they had meeting him. I would think that by the time someone reaches a Kenny Rogers level of fame they could just relax and have fun.

Elliott has an adorable smile.

His teeth are weird and uneven. Some are sharp and there are gaps on the screen side left. I just spoke to 5 women at the library and 4 of them noticed it too. This affects votes whether Elliot fans (and I am among them) want to admit it or not.

I don't know if they have contacted Chris, but they are looking for a new lead singer. It was on our local Fox station a week or two ago that they were in Chicago holding auditions.

After playing and replaying Taylor's performance last night, I still have the same feeling. I didn't believe it for a moment.

Ah, opinions. Ain't they grand. Musical tastes are so personal, even intimate sometimes, that there's no way anyone can tell another their reaction to a performance is right or wrong.

The last AI performance I emotionally connected with was Bo's a capella song last year.

I do know without a shred of doubt that Kellie Pickler is the worst singer left in the competition, followed closely by Ace. After that, it's anybody's ballgame. I'm not emotionally invested in any of them, because no one this year so far has been able to reach into that spot we all have where music resonates with my soul.

Elliott has an adorable smile.

Elliott has a very genuine smile, which is one of the things I like about him. There is no artifice there -- he is what he is. Seeing his teeth doesn't bother me a bit -- my mother had those same "jumbley" teeth so I guess I'm used to seeing that.

Someone here made a comment earlier that just a couple of hours in a dentist's chair would fix Elliott's teeth. I think that's optimistic, to say the least. I got a good look at them last night when he hit a high note, and that looks like a job for braces. But if I were advising him, I would tell Elliott NOT to make any big changes to his teeth unless he finds them painful, or an orthodontist advises him to to avoid trouble down the line. (Those jumbley teeth can continue shifting throughout life, causing various problems.) The sound that is produced by a singer is an extremely individual thing, and the bones in the face, jaw, etc. enter into it (as well as a host of other things).

I read somewhere that he used to have allergies. Looking at him, he still has the telltale shadows under his eyes of someone who has nasal allergy issues. (That's the first thing an allegist looks for when you walk into his office -- are there visible shadows under the eyes?) Therefore I am guessing that Elliott still has allergies. Now THAT is something he should address as soon as he can, with the very best allergist he can locate. (As a matter of fact, he could do it right now and it would only increase his chances of success in this contest.) If he can get his sinuses completely clear, it will really increase that lovely ringing tone in his upper voice, and reduce vocal fatigue in general. Getting allergies under control is one of the most important things a vocalist can do. Much more important than what your teeth look like! :)

What's weird is that men get the blame for being shallow.... His teeth will be fixed in 3 months. Women who won't vote for him because of his looks likely spend their time on the phone at night voting for Ace while ripping on other people for not being perfect yet are likely 15-20lbs overweight and nothing to write home about in the looks department themselves.

Click this: link

Listen to the first two tracks without the big band and tell me why people wouldn't vote for him because of his teeth.

What b!tches.

In my world, the biggest sin is not crooked teeth.
It's a smile with no heart.

The physical demands on the participants is tremendous. They don't sleep. If it wasn't for the fact that they feed them Lord knows what sort of shape Elliott would be in. Diabetics also tend to look sickly when they don't take care of themselves.

By the way, here's a site that someone put together for him: Click

Hm, I'm going to amend what I just said about Elliott's seeing an allergist *during* the contest. Some medications used for allergies can cause dry mouth and dry throat, which is NOT a good thing for singers. So Elliott should see an allergist who specializes in singers. (There used to be an excellent one in Fort Worth who saw virtually every singer in that area, but unfortunately he decided to run for Congress -- a loss of a good allergist! LOL!) Anyway, if you ask around amongst pro singers you can find an allergist who is aware of singing issues and used to dealing with them. That's the guy/gal you want to go to.

Ok, let's remain scientific here. These women didn't say Elliot's teeth were the reason they voted for someone else. It is subliminal. It factors in. Sometimes imperfections actually enhance looks, as with the "wandering" eyes so prevalent among character actors in Hollywood. But for some reason the uneveness of his teeth is a negative. It is intangible, to be sure, but it exists, and he would be wise to fix it. Chris, KAtherine and Taylor have perfect smiles and symmetry. Elliot does not and it may hurt him when this whittles down to he and they as the final 4, as is likely.

Thanks for the weblink, it helps to illustrate my points. This picture...

Look at his teeth in the photo at right. Yecch! Also he looked absolutely awful in general in these pics...the clothes, the hair helmet, the glasses, the uneven beard. He has made a great makeover since then and now looks fabulous. But the awful teeth remain, and it is distracting.

I predict Chris will win, because he's straightforward, manly, and 100% believable.

You, too? Last year, Bo was singing to me, Carrie was singing for me, and Scotty was reminding me how much fun music can be.

Kelli hits a chord, a different one...the mother in me. My vote goes to Taylor...he entertains me and reminds me about excellence, individuality, and having fun.

The guys on Nashville Star this year are awesome

I agree, the talent is awesome and I actually enjoy watching NS much more than AI. All the remaining are great, but Mat Mason and Chris Young are "extra special?

My favorite performance of Taylor's was when he entered that room, playing his harmonica! The love of his life seems to be his music.

You, too?

Smile...I'm glad to learn I'm not alone in this.

BTW, you have been very kind and motherly toward Kellie, a girl you don't even know. More kind than her own mother ever was apparently.

The unfortunate thing for Kellie is that, whether or not her dumb hick blonde personna is real or an act, she's stuck with that image. Maybe someone will see the potential for a sit-com built around her dumb Ellie-May personna. If it succeeded, she'd become quite wealthy and all will turn out well for her.
