they showed a teeny bit of Chris Young's song from last week and it was a part where he did a little falsetto (I am assuming it was at the end of the song) and it was not abrasive, not annoying.

Yes, he went falsetto at the very end, and it was perfect. Ace could take lessons. Last night, for example, when he went low at the end, my wife and I both thought "now that's where he should have went with the falsetto".

Two stand outs on Nashville Star, Chris Young and Casey Rivers. Incredible voices, and I'm still in awe of Chris Young's original song. Casey Rivers did an acoustic Hank Williams, Sr. a few weeks back that was incredible.

That being said, singing clearly isn't one of her talents.

Oh, I don't know about that. I think with some vocal training she would be very good in her genre of music. These "standards" are never going to be her thing, but, unfortunately, these aren't the songs that they play on the radio these days.

Re the Pickle: The music was playing notes ahead of what she was singing. I was actually embarrassed for her.

Exactly!! Which is why I couldn't figure out why Simon was remotely nice to her except that he has Plans for her. She was just wandering around in the desert, looking for a stray note to go by ... it was horrifying. I've never seen any other contestant do that.

Why? Pickler does Country and some other styles very well. I think she would sell a ton of albums, and would have a popular acting run to boot. Meanwhile, where is Fantasia? Nowhere.

The idea that the Gerkhin would sell a ton of albums makes me grit my teeth until the enamel is in danger, but you may be right. However, I think your more salient comment is the one about Fantasia. She certainly was not a stellar winner, and her career so far has been lackluster. Perhaps you are right, and it does take more than a so-so winner to make AI jump the shark.

Love, love, love Hank Sr. Those songs never get old. Last fall we visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and they have all these cases with memorabilia from different artists. I got a knot in my stomach when I saw his famous white suit and hat. He's such a legendary figure and so far before my time that just seeing his suit made him more real, sort of brought him down the Earth so to speak.

Guess I got a little off topic. LOL

He's 27 and has "little experience"? I'm not buying it. I'd be surprised if he hasn't had some vocal training, as well.

Which is why they are "classics". ;-)

90% deaf in one ear

Never went to school for music

Sang karaoke at a local bar in Richmond. Current girlfriend met him there, encouraged him to try out for Idol

His own mother didn't know he could sing until she found out that he had been selected to sing before the 3 judges in Boston

He has obviously received some coaching in the last 3 months since he started AI but that's it.

I knew about the deafness, but I'm surprised by the lack of experience.

He's not my fav (nor is Kellie, but she gets so harshly slammed around here, I feel like someone needs to defend her), but he's alright to listen to.

Chris and Taylor are the only ones currently that I would actually vote for (my wife does all the voting in our family), and Chris and Kellie are the only ones my teenage girls like.

Cudos to Elliot.

The 4 reasons you listed are the 4 reasons this particular woman loves Katherine. Beautiful, talented, and um, curvaceous

This is what makes guys like Elliott and Bucky so enamoring to people. Nobodies (except to the people who know them) who show up in people's living rooms each week and become underdog favorites.

The show is many things to many people and it seems to have been distorted by the show leaders as well. The influencing of votes for preferred candidates, the taking on of people like Taylor who have already released CDs, the whimsical assassination of people by Simon all makes the show hard to understand. Do they want the best singer? Do they want a performer? Do they want a sex symbol?

My wife and sister can't focus on anything else when they watch him.

Really???

I recorded the show, and replaying Elliott, all I can focus on are his warm eyes.

His singing, and everything else about him, is incredibly unique.

I'm old fashioned, though, and don't especially like cookie cutter teeth.

Elliott has an adorable smile.

I just read last night comments on this thread and am surprised that no one else noticed that the Pickler was way ahead of the music. I think she botched a lyric and lost her place. The music was playing notes ahead of what she was singing. I was actually embarrassed for her.

They were talking about that on the radio this morning. They also spoke with John? from Dial Idol. He said all things point to Ace leaving tonight and no ties, like last week between Bucky and Ace.

They played parts of some of the songs on the radio and most sounded really bad on the radio. Taylor and Chris still sounded good over the radio, Pickles and Ace were terrible.

A woman called in from Pa. and said she heard a rumor from her husband's work place, that someone from Fuel was cut from the band and that they have contacted Chris. They said that would make sense since he did a couple of tjeir songs.

I know he did one, but, did he do two? Not sure how much stock I'd put into that rumor. She didn't say what type of work her husband did or where he worked.

The one with the amazing vocals is Casey Rivers. My wife went to school with his dad (kind of, he's 5 years older than her). They sang "original songs" last week, and Chris Youngs would be at the top of the charts if it was released. Incredible song, and great voice.

That is something that would make AI better. It would also weed out the weak links. The show doesn't HAVE to keep rights, they can have the rights revert back to their author.

Just have one week where they do an original. Then if they win, late, they can use that song as their signature song. That wait you would avoid the generic pap that the writers come up with that the two finalists sing. jmo

How do I find this chart on the "zabasearch" website. It doesn't seem like anyone has posted it yet. Would be interesting to see how it breaks things down.

After playing and replaying Taylor's performance last night, I still have the same feeling.

I didn't believe it for a moment.

I was trying to picture who he might be singing it to, but just couldn't, for some reason. All style and sales pitch.
