I'm sure he is holding back until the finals. Taylor can honestly probably rock better than Chris if he wanted to. I really wish he could have sung Hank Jr. He would have nailed the country vote and sent the pickle packing.
His brother posts on the main AI boards and said that right now he's just trying to survive theme weeks until they have more freedom in song "choice".
Can he do it in the time constraints??? He might need to wait til the field is smaller and they get more time per song.
I hate that Simon makes a face when he has to compliment Elliott. Grrrr..
Simon is so wrapped up in Kellie that he's not been as impartial of a judge. I'm not liking him as much this year. :(
I can't wait til he re-releases his music so we can buy them!
Can't wait.
Perfect tagline! Dang, I should have thought of that. LOL
I imagine that is what he will do. There's a lot of goodies for him to do from that time period.
I have his Under the Radar CD. It's really good. I love the keyboard player. That man is flat out good!
I have burned a couple cd's. One with his mellow stuff and the other with his live show stuff. He can provide whatever mood you happen to be in.
You know the week where Clive is there and picks songs for the contestants to do. What do you think Clive might pick for Taylor??
If Taylor makes it to the point where he can just blow what he wants to blow, this thing is over. From the beginning he has been the most unique and widely popular finalist ever to grace AI. Early on, both Simon and Paula acknowledged this. Now they have to "keep the competition close" for rating and hype. I don't fault them for that. But I'm sure the internal polls have Hicks walking away with the title.
I agree that it is getting close to jumping the shark. I think if all of the guest artists weren't obviously pimping their own new releases it wouldn't be so bad but the only one who was actually honestly interested in helping out was Barry. Yes he had an album to promote but he did more in teaching them how to arrange songs. The man knows music.
I can't wait for Taylor to have the freedom to let go and do things HIS way. It won't even be close. All I can say is everyone get out of his way when he gets some freedom to be Taylor! It's going to be wild! LOL
As far as the internal polls, just look at the AI boards. It was insane yesterday. I'm talking 1000 posts/15 minutes just in Taylor's folders the couple hours before the show. The mods nuked a 150,000 post thread too. He has been so far ahead of the other contestants on the AI boards that it's not even close. People of all ages love him and his music because it's real.
Also Ray LaMontagne's Trouble album rose over 100 points overnight on Amazon after Taylor sang "Trouble". Ray's on RCA and well RCA is the one who most of the AI winners record with so they know that Taylor can be marketable if he can sell other artists records that he sings.
I don't know what Clive will choose to be honest.
Ping to post 4578. YiKEs! Hope this isn't true. It would make me ill.
When we going to have a BLUES week? Oh wait, can't DO that....
I think the week Clive is there will be a GOOD week! :)
Found this on another forum:
Wynonna, Carrie Underwood Share Awkward Moment
04/12/06 04:19 AM
There was an awkward moment backstage at the CMT Music Awards on Monday (April 10th) night between Wynonna and the night's big winner, Carrie Underwood. As host of this season's reality show, Nashville Star, a reporter asked Wynonna to comment on the talents of reigning American Idol winner Underwood.
Clearly not the biggest fan, Wynonna answered in a diplomatic yet honest way. She said: ["Don't know a lot about it. I have to be honest with you. I think that there's a lot more going on than just talent these days. I don't really know. I've seen her sing maybe once or twice and I think she's good. There's a lot more to it these days . . . the full package. You know that. A lot more artists are making it with more than just a voice. It's the right song. It's the right packaging, and I understand all that."] SOUNDCUE (:21 OC: . . . understand all that.)
Wynonna went on to tell reporters the type of female artist she would like to see rise to the top in country music. ["I'm still waiting for that woman to come out of the box, like a Bonnie Raitt, that can just kick everybody's butt. I'm feeling like it's getting a little vanilla sometimes out there, and it's not just about her (Underwood). It's about music in general. I really love the raw and the you don't know what's gonna happen next. I like her. I think she's really good -- what I've seen -- but I'm waiting, like I said, for somebody just to come out and be completely different and blow the doors wide open."] SOUNDCUE (:26 OC: . . . doors wide open.)
Unbeknownst to Wynonna, Underwood was standing backstage waiting to speak to reporters and heard everything that was said. The two passed briefly in the hallway and Underwood then took the stage to speak with reporters.
Near the end of her question and answer period, Wynonna returned to the stage and took the microphone to make a disclaimer to both reporters and Underwood about her previous comments, stating that she did not mean them with respect to Underwood.
A visibly emotional Underwood fought back tears as Wynonna backtracked her statements, and the two then posed for a very uncomfortable photo before exiting the stage.
A spokesman for Underwood told LAUNCH that while the singer has no comment at this particular time, the incident "struck a sensitive nerve with Carrie."
-------
Too bad that Wynonna can't be pleased for Carrie's success and feels it necessary to belittle Carrie's accomplishments. Carrie shouldn't feel bad about what Wynonna said, she's already raking in awards.
That Under the Radar is different than what I expected and I find that I like it alot! He has so many different styles that he can do!!
>>>>When we going to have a BLUES week? Oh wait, can't DO that....<<<<
Nope, it would blow the two favorites way out of their comfort zones. ; )
Although it would be nice to have blues week.
Taylor can't be put into a box. He's going to write/sing what he feels inspired to do. That is what makes him an artist.
Wynona is right in respect to the music industry wanting the package. Musicians are no longer raw, unexpected, and original. Of course she needs to check out Taylor. He fits her ideals to a T.
I know she didn't mean to belittle Carrie but that is an issue that Carrie will have to disprove to some people. Time will tell just what she's made of. I think she will do well for years to come because she really is good.
