I agree with Kellie as #1 in sales... not sure i'd put McPhee at #2 though...

Look at how much $ Jessica Simpson makes, the market is there for Kellie. I like her, she seems funny and looks good, i think she sings pretty good too, i hear people complaining about her singing but I think she sounds pretty good. :)

Good comments. For most of the people here this show will be about getting noticed.

Pickle will sell an album but will likely become hated in country music for her mediocrity over time once the pop from winning AI wears off.

Taylor will have a fun following of people and will do very well for himself

Chris will front a rock band that will do okay but he shouldn't think that he will be the star of it.

Paris has good potential but is she that good or unique to stand out from all the other pop stars?

Elliott could go in a few directions. He could try and be highbrow jazz, he could go for soulful R&B or a mix. He really needs a song writer and music arrangement that allows him to showcase his vocals appropriately.

Bucky belongs in a bar band.

Ace? Nada, zilch, squat.

Jessica Simpson can hit high notes as well as anyone. Not so for the Pickle.

SOunds like you and I are on the same page.

I am so hoping the right person picks up Eliot. He could become very very successful if he gets the right management, right songs, right producer, etc etc. The talent is there without a doubt.

Hi, Hetty :)

Paris -- Surprised the aitch-ee-double-toothpicks out of me

Instead of "surprised", I would say "scared" :) The local FOX station just showed a clip of Paris from last night, stomping the stage like a show horse. That was bizarre.

I don't understand McPhee. She looks and sounds great in rehearsals. She smiles. She bounces. And looks like she's having FUN (why didn't she stick with her original song choice???). But come show time, she stiffens up like a kid singing at a recital. Unnerving.

Jessia doesn't make all her money on singing ability. ;) Personality and looks go a long way, same for politics.

This sums up my thoughts on Pickler's performance last night (from mj's Big Blog - Link):

Kellie Pickler - "Bohemian Rhapsody" - I was a big fan of Constantine Maroulis's version of this song last season. Her arrangement was really similar, but unfortunately her performance paled in comparison. She looked like an eight year old up there stomping around. And oh my--that little pelvic thrust when she dropped to her knees? Yikes. Her weak vocals were completely overwhelmed by the band, and the arrangement excised all of the most interesting and difficult parts out of the song. There was no drama, no camp, no passion. What was left was a hollow shell of a song, that Kellie wasn't able to really do much justice. I found the judges praise really stunning, to tell you the truth. They really want Kellie to make it to at least Top 3.

Ace Young - Why is he still on the show?

A question we're all asking :)

I think Paris will be the one leaving tonight, though.

One of the things I like about Taylor is that he writes his own stuff and its good. I think people forget about that.

The song was "too big" for Ace in the first place, and he diminished himself further by a bad interpretation.

And he pissed off Queen by wanting to "modernize" it. That wasn't smart.

I disagree. The mods tend to favor CRIDers, most who use ad hominem 'arguments' or flat out insults (if you are evo you are an evil Athiest).

EVos just get frustrated when our logical, science-based args are answered by mythology or philosophy. But frequently CRIDers go negative first with nary a sound from the mods.

He has a good niche waiting for him. Personality wise, he has that "cool hep cat" thing working for him combined with unassuming modesty and genuine niceness. Plus, how he handled himseld when called up to the bottom 3!!! Putting his arms around both women to say, "it's okay", clapping hard for Paris when she was told to sit down. saying a prayer with Mandisa then hugging her and telling her he loved her when she was announced as the loser for that week.

That's called class.

He will be off the show in the next two weeks but I hope I get the chance to see him and tell him how impressed people are by him as a singer and as a man. 90% deafness in one ear and he sounds that good????? No formal training????

LOL - so far the AI moment of the year is "no no I don't think we can do that" "Sorry, we can't play it that way"

I can't believe there are two other hockey fans on the AI thread.

Count me in, too. Go Stars!

My older brother was a music fanatic back in their hey day. I *had* to listen to his music whether I wanted to or not. He liked Queen because they were all classically trained musicians. LOL

I like Queen okay but they aren't my personal favorites.

"I'm Only Drinking Me Lonely Tonight" by Chris Young will be #1 on the country charts

It was excellent! I like all of the guys that are left, but Chris Young was amazing on that song.

For those unfamiliar with Nashville Star, they have an "Original Song" night where all the contestants sing a song that they wrote. Can you imagine AI contestants doing their own songs? Maybe a couple of them can.

Chris Young's song on AI was a great song! The others were not so great, and the lone remaining female's was horrendous.
