I don't own Alienware, but it's still a dark day for gamers.

"We believe that Alienware will realize significant advantages from Dell's world-class supply chain and operational efficiencies," Gonzalez said in a statement. "They will allow us to continue to satisfy our core customers with the most innovative and highest-performing PCs, and ultimately extend the reach and appeal of the Alienware brand."Excite news article.

Alienware has gone downhill in the last 8 months it's really of no surprise. They increased their marketing, increased their sales, but can't keep up, tremendously long waits (3 weeks! for crossfires!) to get top of the line systems from them now.

Falcon NW,
polywell.com
micro velocity
voodoopc
and a slew of others are selling at lower profit margins(except voodoopc) and have better customer service.

The other side is that most of the new high end configurations have had the kinks worked out, it's now possible to build and test a pci-e dual gpu system in a matter of a day, and test for one night, if your componenets arrive in a functioning state. And it will cost you 50% of what any of the above sell it for.

If any Freepers in the tristate NY/NJ/CT area need a top of the line pc built, freepmail me, I have a side business going myself.

Alienware is the only pre-fab I woould have bought, so much for that now. I wouldn't own a dell if you paid me. I'll stick to building my own.
