As anyone can tell by my screenname, I am French on one side. The other side is about as English as possibly. There may be a tiny amount of Scottish in there, but it's uncertain. And just a teeny dash of Cherokee Indian.

Since the first time I saw it, my mind always, always says, "Pet Rocks." I know not why.

I remember my grandmother on mom's side said we might have a dash of Irish in us somewhere, dunno where unless her father might have had some because her mother's side and some of her father's were mainly German. I remember her telling me that my great-great grandfather (her grandfather) was a Prussian Army Captain.
My father's side is kind of interesting too. From what my grandmother said, (she just turned 91) her grandfather took part in the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia (her maiden name was a corruption of the word "Bolshevik" in Russian, dunno what it was before) and according to family stories (I will need to verify this, so far this seems to be conjecture), he became a top general in one of the Soviets and worked with Lenin and Stalin directly. He did have the wisdom to tell his son, her father, to get out, "you don't want any part of this." It's kind of weird, if true, I'm the direct descendant of one of the founders of the USSR. B-P I wonder if he survived the purges if he lived that long to see them?
Her other on the other hand, was Jewish, she suffered greatly under the pogroms of the cossacks, had two villages burned out from under until her family sent her to America.
I've already told the story of one of her brothers who was a violinist who through a Jewish in that community married a young girl. B-)
I need to talk with her much, much more, she is one of the few links that I know if to pre-Revolutionary Russia.
