Find a partner or grab your favorite beverage & listen to some Irish tunes .A couple of wave files - full-length, lilting, Irish melodies - they are so beautiful! I hope you can open them, or "save target as" to your hard drive and listen to them later.

Why Saint Patrick's Day?
Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
So, why is it celebrated on March 17th? One theory is that that is the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is believed that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of course, in Ireland. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost all businesses close on March 17th. Being a religious holiday as well, many Irish attend mass, where March 17th is the traditional day for offering prayers for missionaries worldwide before the serious celebrating begins.
In American cities with a large Irish population, St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal. Big cities and small towns alike celebrate with parades, "wearing of the green," music and songs, Irish food and drink, and activities for kids such as crafts, coloring and games. Some communities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green!

Yeah, I spent this past week explaining to my friend that it really didn't matter what my major was because I want to go into politics. Most of the other poli sci majors I know want to go to law school. I actually want to go into politics but not run for office. It's a little late for me at this point to add a second major unless it's history. I'm nearly done with my junior year.

Well, when you're ready to run, let me know and I'll work for your campaign if I can! Or at least donate to it.

Though that is ok, where I live now if I defended myself with my shotgun I'd go to prison.

You don't have good aim?
Practice, practice, practice.
Its a lot of fun. Start out small with a .22 until you get the technique of lining the sights up and squeezing the trigger down pat. Same technique with all firearms.
You won't even notice the recoil of a larger caliber handgun because, unlike a rifle, it doesn't hurt when it kicks.
You make a game out of it. You try to put all the bullets through the same hole. Almost impossible to do, but that's what you shoot for.

Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to practice. And I can't go out into the middle of the apartment complex and start shooting cans. LOL!

I do pretty well with my pistol. Hubby and I take the jeep (rubicon unlimited) out for a drive to Lake Tahoe forest, set up some clay pigeons and fire away. I've got my S&W, but hubby's got a 45, an AK, an AR-15, and a Remmington 870 12 gauge. I've shot all of them. Fun fun fun!

You look for an old shotgun like that in the newspaper or the local trader papers.
Find someone knowledgeable about guns to give you a hand.

I think I can guarantee I will never run for office. I'm terrified of public speaking. Although I suppose even without running for office, I'm gonna have to get over that. I'm a pretty shy person though.

I can still hit the bullseye at about 20-30 feet.

A "scattergun" makes aiming almost moot.

True. But what little money I earn has to go towards other things - like food and shelter - at this time.
Hey, who says if you bought a gun you couldn't eat? LOL, yesterday I finally paid 5 months worth of phone bill that went untouched from Sept-Nov!!
