Find a partner or grab your favorite beverage & listen to some Irish tunes .A couple of wave files - full-length, lilting, Irish melodies - they are so beautiful! I hope you can open them, or "save target as" to your hard drive and listen to them later.

Why Saint Patrick's Day?
Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
So, why is it celebrated on March 17th? One theory is that that is the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is believed that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of course, in Ireland. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost all businesses close on March 17th. Being a religious holiday as well, many Irish attend mass, where March 17th is the traditional day for offering prayers for missionaries worldwide before the serious celebrating begins.
In American cities with a large Irish population, St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal. Big cities and small towns alike celebrate with parades, "wearing of the green," music and songs, Irish food and drink, and activities for kids such as crafts, coloring and games. Some communities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green!

OHIO folks.. note "politician in Cleveland St. Pats parade ping. Over 300 units in parade. About 350,000 people lined the streets. But the sun was out & for a change we didn't have sub zero temps or a blizzard
Pix above & below is of the Irish Wolfhound. This one was a spectator. But in the parade there were about 20 in a marching unit. I have never seen this dog.. It is really BIG & really beautiful
Lots of horses in parade & here are some green ones. My dogs were terrified of all the horses. The pooper scooper was an athletic guy with wheelbarrow & on roller blades. He was as much fun as an unit in parade to watch
Okay, dont gag.. This is Rep Dennis Kucinich..and his lovely recent bride. He is a very well liked person in Cleveland & VERY warm & nice.. But just IMHO NOT a great politician (this may be the understatement of night on thread)
Here is a cute, cool cop
..JUST BECAUSE!

She is VERY glamorous, intelligent.. and British(maybe Irish?)..
They have a lot in common.. both into conservation & both vegetarians(as I am )..
Their mentality & politics are very similar. And he truly is a nice guy.. I met him years ago & experienced a genuinely sweet man.. but as I say NOT necessarily a good national legislator & heaven help us.. PRESIDENT!

Filling it up now with some Cabnet Savignon! My favorite. Not too sweet, not too sour. Packs a punch too.
