I will leave it at that, I don't wish to ruin this occassion.

Nor do I, but here's one song you surely can't object to on this day, me bucko ... though I still take objection to your comment regarding Mr. Ahern.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Wearing of the Green
"O Paddy dear, and did ye hear the news that's goin' round?
The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground!
No more Saint Patrick's Day we'll keep, his color can't be seen
For there's a cruel law ag'in the Wearin' o' the Green."
I met with Napper Tandy, and he took me by the hand,
And he said, "How's poor ould Ireland, and how does she stand?"
"She's the most distressful country that ever yet was seen, For they're hanging men and women there for the Wearin' o' the Green."
"So if the color we must wear be England's cruel red
Let it remind us of the blood that Irishmen have shed;
And pull the shamrock from your hat, and throw it on the sod
But never fear, 'twill take root there, though underfoot 'tis trod.
When laws can stop the blades of grass from growin' as they grow
And when the leaves in summer-time their color dare not show,
Then I will change the color too I wear in my caubeen;
But till that day, please God, I'll stick to the Wearin' o' the Green."
And happy St. Joseph's Day on the 19th of March...I never knew it to be celebrated anywhere else but New Orleans though.
And Happy St. Paddy's to you too!
Ah yes, St. Joe's Feast...another reason to "imbibe" on great food during Lent!
Many Catholic parishes in this area celebrate the Feast of St. Josephs...excellent Italian food!
I bet NO would be a great place to celebrate
Just at my place, but I wanted to have a Guinness tonight. I'm keeping the rest for tomorrow. I don't drink that much so I have enough for the weekend. There are 8 Guinness in the box I got.
The more I'm thinking about it, the better a Guinness sounds right about now! I think I have a couple beers left that a friend of mine brought back from BC, maybe when I get home.....
There are 8 Guinness in the box I got.
I'm not a real heavy drinker either, 8 Guinness would certainly do a number on me!
You guys are making me want to run to the liquor store. Unfortunately where I live, that 8-pack probably costs $25-30!
I think that the 'least-expensive' 6-pack (cans-of course) I found was close to $6 CDN, and it was on sale. Something like 'Jacks Lager', and it was repulsive!! Someday I will learn how to home-brew.
Padraic Flaherty came home drunk every evening toward ten. Now, the Missus was never too happy about it, either. So one night she hides in the cemetery and figures to scare the beejeezus out of him. As poor Pat wanders by, up from behind a tombstone she jumps in a red devil costume screaming,
"Padraic Sean Flaherty, sure and ya' don't give up you're drinkin' and it's to Hell I'll take ye'".
Pat, undaunted, staggered back and demanded, "Who the hell ARE you?".
Too that the Missus replied, "I'm the divil ya' damned old fool".
To which Flaherty remarked, "Damned glad to meet you sir, I'm married to yer sister."
Lucky you!! (Read post 153)
I'm living up North of the border, taxes are insane. Gas is ~$0.93/liter (multiply by 4 to convert to gallons).
