You know, if the Chicks had done a regular song, you know, a ballad like "Without You" or a catchy ditty like "Long Time Gone", they MIGHT have been able to ease back into the country mainstream. But NO. They have to come right out and stick it in the fans' faces.
Note the "Shut up and Sing" comment - someone ping Laura Ingraham.
Don't get me wrong, the music sounds great (likely due to the great Rick Rubin producing the entire album). But Natalie seems to be whining a lot and playing the victim here.
Our local St. Joseph radio station is having a poll - I am hoping the Dixie Chicks remain absent from the airwaves here and in Kansas City.

I still will never understand why they didn't have the intestinal fortitude to say what they said (or was it just her??) over here, in our country, and not overseas...

I don't think they're even trying to get any airplay on country stations anymore. They're going for a crossover to the "indie-rock" format.
Screw 'em. They're done.

I'm ashamed that the Dixie Chicks are from my state of Texas.
They should be from France.

They act like they are the victims. They started this crap themselves and they arent ready to make nice? Screw them.
Go sing for Bin-Laden butt wipes.

Dixie chickens are past doo chicken feces in my small book.
What they have to say or sing has no relevance in things that go round in my world.
Just a bunch of misguided ignorant liberals who were embraced by the good country folk who got burned big time.

I thought they swore off country and were going to go pop/top 40....
Lord knows, while they have incredible talent, they like many other "entertainers" before them shot themselves in their foot with their big mouths.
The only recent entertainer with an ounce of intellect I've seen lately, at least in terms of understanding what an entertainer is, was Lindsey Lohan, when they tried to press her on politics, she said (paraphrasing) quite wisely, not going to talk about it, no matter what I say, I'll alienate part of my fan base... and how smart would that be? I'm an entertainer, that's it.

And THAT Dixie Chicks is what DEFINITELY makes President Bush different from you three losers. He forgives. Which by the way, they (DC's) should ask the President and the American public for THEIR forgiveness. The Dixie Chicks paid the price cause they chose to say what they did on foreign soil. The American public ALSO CHOSE to not buy their albums. Plain and Simple. I guess the DC's wanted to spout off their mouths to be popular. Guess they found out the President was MORE popular.
Don't ya just love the word CHOICE???? I do!

Fine. Don't "shut up and sing". Just shut up.
What a pathetic attempt to put themselves back in the news.

The problem is with these people is that they don't understand that freedom of speech is a two-edge sword, it cuts both ways.
No one is stopping the Dixie Chicks from making music, I have decided not to listen to it...Freedom of speech does not mean I have to listen to it or buy it. I have freedom of choice also and I choose not to listen to the Dixie Chicks.
