Not Ready To Make Nice
Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting
I'm through with doubt
There's nothing left for me to figure out
I've paid a price
And I'll keep paying
I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should
I know you said
Can't you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it
I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don't mind sayin'
It's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over
I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could

The sisters didn't have a problem cutting loose their previous lead singer. Dropper her like a hot potatoe, picked up Natalie (right name?) from her father and jumped from folksy to pop/country to make their fortunes.
Country today is basically for the most part derived from southern rock... wouldn't call it pop/top40, but it sure isn't the classic country sound.
Good point. I still wonder how many "disenchanted" Bush followers will flip to their side.
I admire her...she's standing by what she believes, and she's taking the heat. And I don't care what you ever may read, this event hurt their career more than anyone I can think of in recent history. I think she's dead wrong, I wish she would keep her mouth shut, but how can you not respect her defiance?
Well, because I don't respect defiance. It just adds fuel to the fire.
Well, that's the truth.
The DC's will probably get alot of initial sales..from folks like Cindy Sheehan and her followers. As far as a lasting financially success career from this point forward? I don't know.
LOL! I had forgotten about the Kinky response. Hilarious!
Another song is called "Lubbock Or Leave It", and supposedly addresses "the narrowmindedness of small towns". Natalie grew up in Lubbock along with the rest of the Maines clan. Even after coming out of the closet, I think it's fair to say everyone here still likes Sheryl Swoopes 10 times more than Natalie Maines.
Lubbock also is one of the finalists for the George W. Bush Pres. Library. It would be great to have Pres. Bush announce that Lubbock will be the location by saying, "Natalie Maines says Lubbock or Leave It. Given the choice, Natalie, I say, LUBBOCK."
I think there will be some stations that will still not play their stuff (I truly hope a majority of them do). The mainstream press will jump on this story, painting them as a victim...."Poor little Dixie Chicks....". But their sales should come NOWHERE near the multi-platinum successes of "Fly", "Wide Open Spaces", and "Home".
Of course, CMT (long de-programmed from my DishNetwork) will likely play their video every hour and do a month-long special on it.

1) She abused her celebrity status to make a anti-american political statements. We gave her a platform to sing from, not preach from.
2) She made anti-american political statements overseas, while we are at war.
I have no respect for her. She is a shill who has typecast her group as Moonbats. We gave her a voice because she entertained us, it wasn't an open contract, she abused her art for politics.
It would perhaps be a little more respectable she didn't attack her own home town form narrow-mindedness in the same album. It's as though she thinks free-speech only counts if you're liberal and anyone who disagrees is narrow-minded.
I guess my definition goes to the idea that it is designed for radio play, record sales, and popular appeal. But, what's in a name? I find most of it thoroughtly commercial in nature.
Gotta dig a little deeper for good music these days.
Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.
there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost.
I feel the president is ignoring the opinion of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world."
Oh, didn't know that. Well, I take great Pride in our Country, our military and our President.
I also take great pride in knowing the chicks lost a LOT of money because of one of them who tried to be "cool."

Well, of course she's an idiot..a fool...extremely misguided. But she didn't back down, no matter what it cost here. There's something admirable, in my opinion, about that.
