TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Former New York Mets and Yankees pitcher Dwight Gooden was arrested Tuesday on charges of violating the terms of his probation.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty in November to speeding away from police after a DUI traffic stop in August 2005 and was sentenced to three years probation. On Tuesday he went to a regular meeting with a probation officer and admitted using cocaine, said Jo Ellyn Rackleff, a spokeswoman for the Department of Corrections.
"He went to his regular meeting with his probation officer, admitted to the officer that he had used cocaine. She did a drug screen, and he tested positive for cocaine," Rackleff said.
Gooden was then arrested and taken to the Hillsborough County Jail. He was being held without bond, according to Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi.
"We will be requesting that he remain in jail on no bond because he violated probation," Bondi said.

LOL, yeah right. He and Darryl Strawberry, two baseball losers who should be crushing rocks in Sam Quentin for the rest of their lives.
BUMP
They've been given numerous chances. Teams still signed Strawberry and Gooden even after cocaine abuses and criminal charges. Sorry, no tears here.
Is it me? Or is the Tampa Bay area the most oppressive police state in the USSA?
Gooden and Strawberry could still be playing for the Mets and winding up Hall of Fame careers if they had stayed clean. Ha, imagine that. Gooden only won 20 games once in his entire career. Dude, where'd you park your car?
He was arrested for insider trading?
