I do WW, too. I'm down 35 pounds so far. I weigh in tomorrow and hopefully broke that 35 pound barrier. I think I did, because my pants are just falling off of me.

I do weight training and treadmill work. Today is a weight work day and treadmill. Tomorrow is just a treadmill day. I'm trying to work out six days a week. I was a pretty compulsive runner years ago, but it was hard to keep it up through much of the winter, hence the treadmill.

I've started a running routine too. I was doing great about 3 summers ago, but the running was playing hell with my knees. I've come to the conclusion I'd rather have crackly knees then a huge butt. Kinda sad, really.

Let me know how you're doing. Maybe we can be cyber running buds! :o)

It really can happen. Those who know how destructive arguing can be, should just refuse to do so. Just like the, justshutupandtakeit, dude. For some reason, he got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and has proceeded to blame me, and many others, for his problems. I told him if he doesn't knock it off, I ain't talkin' to him, NO MORE...

Good advice! I'd add to celebrate the goals in a non-food related way. I celebrate in girly ways, new hair-do, massage, new clothes, just something to mark the occasion.

I did the same thing. I was losing weight at around 15-1700 cals and some exercise and went down to 1200 and upped the exercise only to find that my weight loss stalled, I felt like crap and got really discouraged.

I know better now. Yes you need to cut calories, but you need to be careful.

My plan now is to aim for around 16-1700 cals A lot more protein, weights and HIIT. On days I am not weight training I will do LIGHT runs at around 5mph for about 1/2 hour.

The key is consistancy. But it is also an art and a science losing weight and getting/staying fit.

OK, from a high of 195, I am currently in the high 150's, after nearly 10 years of work. I've tried lots of things, but nothing works like work.

I started out walking. Then added some weight training. It was very, very slow, but I have never crept back up, weight wise.

Two years ago I began training for a sprint triathlon. Did two that year. And three last year. I am scheduled to do at least two this year. No, I'm no skinny minnie. But I am healthy, rather than thin.

Forgive me Lord, I am a backslider.

No harm in backsliding. Just don't stay there! I found this great quote,

"You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there."

Thanks Retro...I guess I knew that I was obese but the BMI calc. really put it in perspective, I think I'll go eat 12 oranges and dring 4 gallons of water.....UGH (was monday the BEST day to try that???) : ) Thank you for starting this up. I've been at it for 6 weeks tomorrow and I've lost about 2 dress sizes but the pounds are slow coming off. I'm 42 and already in menapause so it's harder. I'm eating low fat and excersizing 4 or 5 times per week. I do an aerobic step class (ouch) 2 times a week and ride the elipticle machine for 30 minutes 2 days a week and strength train on the days that I do the elipticle. If there are others on here that know more than I do and can advise a better workout then Id be happy to hear from you. Bearing in mind that I have a herniated disk in my c5-c6 and cant do much with my arms. Thanks

Sounds good! I have trouble with my knees too. They pop and crack like rice krispies.

I went from a size 38 to a 34 last year. It was a great feeling.

How do you split up the 35 extra weekly points?

That is really amazing. From almost 200 pounds to running 2-3 triathlons a year. That is really fabulous!!

That's why I focused on building muscle this winter. I'm just not as active as I am in the summer.

You do all of that AND have a herniated disk?? Wow!

I think someone on the ping list said they were a personal trainer. Maybe they can help you out.

Amen.

"Life's too short to drink cheap wine."

I don't know the science of it, but doesn't stress and arguing and negativity set off all kinds of chemical processes that affect weight, eating patterns, etc.?

Usually I use 1-3 each day and try and save most for the weekend. I workout inconsistently, but if I am working out then I make sure to use at least 5 on workout day. If I don't eat enough when I am working out I just stop losing all together.

Me, either. It's just too hard to run or walk in the winter, especially since it's quite hilly here.

I do a lot of gardening in the summer, which apparently is actually not bad exercise.

Think tortoise and the hare. I can let those itty-bitty 20 somethings go right on by and wonder to myself what THEY will be at 50. LOL

How long did it take you to lose the weight? I need to lose about 20 lbs before the third week of June (there's step 1---identifying the goal : ) and am curious about WW and LA Weight Loss. Would you be so kind as to add me to your ping list?
