Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS are planning to re-ignite their feud with US President GEORGE W BUSH in a provocative new song. The group sparked controversy when singer NATALIE MAINES publicly criticised Bush during a concert in London in 2003 - and fans staged bonfires, where they burned CDs and merchandise after calling the girls traitors. That led to Maines sobbing during an apologetic interview on US TV. But the feisty singer remains defiant and has penned new tune NOT READY TO MAKE NICE, which addresses the controversy surrounding her concert comments. Maines teamed up with former SEMISONIC frontman DAN WILSON to write the song, which begins, "Forgive, sounds good/Forget, I'm not sure I could/They say time heals everything/But I'm still waiting." The provocative track will appear on the Dixie Chicks' upcoming album TAKING THE LONG WAY HOME, which was produced by RICK RUBIN and features guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer CHAD SMITH and guitarist MIKE CAMPBELL. The album also features the song I HOPE, which the Dixie Chicks wrote with blues star KEB' MO' as a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina last year (05). 10/03/2006 19:36
In their case, it's very 2002...
First of all, it seems that the other two "Chicks" agree with their lead singer, so it's not likely they'd ditch her.
Secondly, dissing the U.S. and Bush was wildly idiotic considering their ex-fanbase consisted of very patriotic country music enthusiasts.
It was the latter type of "non-apology-apology".
I thought those bitches renounced country music.
I think it was the other way around. :-)
I'm worried that he's going to give them a hit album.
The Dixie Chicks had a career crash, matched only by Ryan Leaf...
Boohoo.
Okay, then I retract that and insert "Who renounced who--first?
I think country music fans did first by smashing all their CD's they owned. (That's what I did.) I listened to them up until they day I heard about their overseas BushBash. That same day I smashed all their CD's and threw them away. My hubby was headed to Iraq at the time, and I didn't need to hear their sh*t.
Good for you! If I'd owned any of their CDs I would have done the same.
I agree about Rick Rubin. I think he has the ability to produce a descent sounding album for the Dixie Chicks, but I don't think it will be enough. They're too old to appeal to young rock goers, and older audiences are already set in their ways. They'll never come close to selling as many albums as when they were country stars.
Dypsy Chicks .... ping
I'm ignoring the Dixie Chicks and will refrain from even posting on a thread about them.

dang!
yeah, and just like the commercial, I suddenly don't have much of an appetite. One of the hajis selling bootleg cds on my base in Iraq had some of their music. His english was really bad, so we convinced him that the correct pronunciation of the group's name is Lips Meet D**ks.
I have, re: Milli Vanilli
The Dixie Chicks are sooooo over. Sadly, so is Bruce. I wish they would just keep their mouths shut!
