Anyone Interested in a FReeper Weight Loss and Exercise Thread? (Vanity)

A few of us were thinking of starting an on-going FReeper diet and fitness thread. It would be a place where we could discuss weight loss, diet, exercise, getting back in shape, encourage each other in our efforts to get healthy, and celebrate our successes.

Any fitness or activity level. 100+ pounds to lose or no weight to lose. Those who have lost weight and kept it off, please share with us what has worked for you. Maybe you love a certain activity, biking, skiing, rock climbing, walking, running, whatever, tell us about how it helps you stay in shape. Share your weight loss success. Just a place to exchange ideas about all things exercise and diet related.

Don't be shy! As Freepers we spend a whole bunch of time in front of our computers and more then a few of us could do with some exercise and probably a little weight loss.

NO VERBAL ATTACKS! NO NAME CALLING! NO BASHING! THE OVERWEIGHT! NO NASTY PICTURES POSTED! This will be a thread about getting healthy and no attacks will be tolerated.

After I stopped drinking coffee, I got into herbal teas like Yogi Tea, Traditional Medicinals, etc. I have my own manchurian home brew fermenting away on my radiator. One of the best things for weight loss is apple cider vinger. A tablespoon in a 8-12 ounce glass of warm water with some raw honey.

What does your tag line mean? My mother gave me a mug yesterday that said that.

There are now some white or semi-white pasta products with a much better glycemic rating than traditional white pasta. They have more fiber, and some are fortified with omega-3s.

According to one book I read, carbs - even "white carbs" - are ok if they are eaten with protein, which slows down the glucose process. The protein slows down and neutralizes the carbs. In this theory, pasta with lean meat sauce would be better than pasta with a light tomato or cream sauce.

"No one ever departs from their desires."

Which is why I'm glad I found the Skinny Cow ice cream bars - big, but low cal (110 calories), low fat, and low sugar (no added sugar, uses Splenda). The problem is I almost always eat two.

On the average, a person should drink eight 8-ounce glasses every day.

Junk science. Have water handy, and drink when you are thirsty. This myth arose when military research found that this was the amount generally needed per soldier per day. What the simplistic advisers seeking to sell water jugs don't tell you is that any amount of this average water need is received from FOOD. That includes meat, soup, other beverages, vegetables, etc.

Don't sweat the water, and it surely is no weight loss cure.

I just do in moderation...I eat what I can put in the palm of my hand...which isn't very big. I'm beginning to believe that's the best rule of thumb...And as for firming up my body, I can load on the protein.

Try to get Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar or any ACV with the 'mother', that brown fuzzy stuff at the bottom of the bottle.
