MINNEAPOLIS Mar 6, 2006 (AP) Kirby Puckett died Monday, a day after the Hall of Fame outfielder had a stroke at his Arizona home, a hospital spokeswoman said. He was 44.

My thoughts and prayers for the Puckett family. May God draw them close to Him in thier time of sorrow.
First one in cheeseland. But, who's counting?
It was a joy to see him play. You could argue that he saved baseball in Minnesota. If it weren't for him maybe the Twins would be playing in some other city now.
God speed to the real All Stars, Kirby.

SO sad. I'd heard on the news yesterday about his stroke, but hadn't seen any news this morning. I always enjoyed watching him play. He seemed to actually ENJOY what he was doing, as opposed to some of the other pro baseball players who just look like they're there for the paycheck.
