LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - And the losers are? Tom Cruise and his fiance Katie Holmes.
Cruise who starred in last year's blockbuster hit "War of the Worlds" and his pregnant partner Holmes won the Razzie award on Saturday for "most tiresome tabloid targets."
The Razzies, which parody self-congratulatory Hollywood award shows such as the Oscars by roasting the worst of Tinseltown, this year added the "most tiresome" category to salute "the celebs we're ALL sick and tired of."
The couple, known as TomKat, won for their tabloid dominance. Cruise professed his love for the actress on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" last May where he jumped up and down on a sofa like a man possessed.
Cruise's behavior spawned the slang "jump the couch," meaning the moment when you know someone has gone off the deep end, or as one Razzie presenter put it, "the day when his rabies vaccine ran out."
Cruise then proposed to Holmes in June in Paris and announced their engagement at a news conference, prompting talk it was all a publicity stunt to promote their summer films.
Razzie presenters joked in Hollywood jargon about Holmes' pregnancy, calling it "their first collaboration to go into pre-production."
Cruise, a member of the Church of Scientology which eschews psychiatry, was also roasted for his attack on psychiatry and anti-depressant drugs made on NBC's "Today" show last June.

Give the thing its due: it may have been a loud, mindless, CGI-infested wad of drivel with a leading man who is apparently insane, but it did make a buttload of money worldwide. Probably in Muslim countries, where they like to see America get blowed up real good.
I don't really follow celebrity news too closely (I get most of the headlines here on FR), but it seems to me that Katie Holmes (I'm not even sure who she is exactly) hitched herself to the wrong wagon. It's looking like Tom Cruise is generally perceived to be a joke now (look at that South Park episode), and being associated with him probably isn't the best career move at this point. Too bad they had to bring a baby into this.
I`ve been hearing about those rumors that him and Katie are now breaking up once she has the kid. If that`s true, this guy Cruise is going to regret that freakout on Oprah big time if he hasn`t already. He breaks up with her so soon after that, the public is going to equate him with Michael Jackson in the sham marriage dept and that dudes career is going to dive faster than Michael Moore going after the last donut.
Good term. I`ll have to remember that when Al Gore does his, which seems to be every few weeks. "Al Gore jumps the couch.....once again."
I reckon there could be a blood relation link between Cruise and Howard Dean. Both bloody lunatics!

To me, it`s not a big mystery that this Cruise is "in the closet"...What is a big mystery to me is how someone like him, along with Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, all who are the same age as me give or take a year, can have the same head of hair they had when they were 18 while I`m completely `effin bald!! Same with Mick Jagger..Here`s a guy 20 years older than me prancing around without even a bald spot. What miracle cure are they using? Then you get the all time champion, Ronald Reagan.
