Can't possibly be making money because they're losing moviegoers for several years now.
They have an agenda that is paid for by the occasional family friendly movie.
That movie gets them enough money to make their garbage.

I don't see how you can say "making money." They are losing money hand over fist because they insist on making their "statement."

Money, but that's never a concern.
So I voted b.

Making a statement. It isn't uncommon in Hollywood for a studio to be bought by another and green lighted projects to be savaged by the new bosses.
They may "have" to make the films but they don't "have" to like it. And yes a pissing contest will occur.
Read the Battle of Brazil (about the making of Terry Gilliam's film).
The wrong people to have in charge of major corporations if the idea is to make money.

I say "Making a statement", because their movies are all bombs.

I did see "Brazil" Pretty weird and not commercial in my opinion.
I intend on renting the "Brothers Grimm"

Neither (usually movies are made to spend inestors money, main purpose. That's the reason we have so many yukkkkk! movies.

Well, let's see. During the first weekend in December, "Brokeback" made a whopping $191,543. Woo-hoo. Oh, wait. "Narnia" (which, as we all know, has had minimal "play" in the MSM) made $23,900,000. Hmmm. Which is up for more "awards"?
Surely, the agendae of the left would have absolutely
nothing to do with this!
These people make me want to puke. They just don't get it. (Sorry. I know I'm preaching to the choir here.) And people wonder what's wrong with this country.

Most recent movie I saw was "Nanny McPhee". Funny English stuff and PG rated I believe.

I intend on renting the "Brothers Grimm"I thought it was an all around decent movie. Parts of all the brothers' stories interwoven into a unique and entertaining storyline.
There were a couple of parts that were a bit gruesome, but then again, I'm kinda a wuss where that's concerned.
(just my 2 cents)
:-)

Thanks. Gruesome is ok with me. You might check out Terry Gilliam's "Baron Von Munchausen" I liked that one.

I had a chance to work with Terry Gilliam on "12 Monkees". Very pleasant man to work with. 12 Monkees gave a major boost to Brad Pitt's career. I have worked with Bruce Willis several times but I remember during the shooting of 12M that Demi was a real bitch and Bruce was trying to avoid her but she would just show up on the set, to everyone's dismay.

The problem is there are two types of "movie makers" in Hollywood right now.
There are the "artistic" directors and actors who are insisting on making a statement.
There are producers and execs who are interested in making a quick buck so they re-package well worn cliches with cheesey action and cheap whiz-bang special effects and make a ton of money on movies we've already seen.
Nobody is interested (right now) in producing movies with compelling story lines and interesting characters. It's either propaganda wrapped up in a bow, or second rate "blockbusters".
