Here is a small sample of what I've got so far:

From the Earth chapter:

First, the water section:

"The oceans provide 99% of the world’s life’s habitat. About 90% of that living space is in deep sea areas. Only 10% of those deep sea living spaces has been explored by humans.

The longest mountain range in the world—and in the known universe, for that matter—is under Earth’s ocean. It’s about 40,000 miles long.

All the oceans in the world contain about 20 million tons of gold.

The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from the moon. It’s big. Really big.

The total length of the world’s coastlines is the same distance as circling the Equator 12 times. But who has that kind of time?"

From the land section:

"The bottom tip of England is further North than the very top of Maine, or however you want to say it. Most of France is further north than Maine, too. Go look and see.

In less than 20 million years, at the current rate of erosion, all land mass will be gone. I hate these long, suspenseful waits.

Berlin is further north than some of Alaska.

We like to talk about Everest, and how it’s the highest mountain in the world and so-forth, but have you ever wondered what the lowest mountain in the world is? Look no further, my friend. Mount Wycheproof in Victoria, Australia, rises 140 feet above the plains.

At exactly 60 degrees South Latitude, all the way around the world, there is no land at all.

Yes, Greenland is the world’s largest island. New Guinea comes in second. The first is three times larger than the second."

It gets kind of addictive to read, doesn't it?

Yeah, you've got to make it punchy and unique. I'm no expert in geography or anything, I just have the writing skills, so I recycle the information in a presentable fashion.

Howdy back atcha!

Actually, I am headed off to bed now. I thought I was a night owl, but it's like, oh-dark-hundred over where Philip is. Right? Where are you at Paul? I forget. My brains are still packed in my suitcase.

Goodnight, M_R. BTW, here is a link to Friday's since you weren't here. Some have told me it's my best ever.

Paul - Seattle is nice. I've been there twice to see my husband there at Ft. Lewis (I know it's in Tacoma) just before he got shipped off to Iraq back in 2003.

Phil - Interesting stuff. I say you run with it and turn it into a science fiction novel. :) (mainly because I am a sci-fi fan).

Ok. Must find pillow now...night!

Sorry about that, Phil. I announced my name a couple weeks ago in the Friday thread. Thought you saw it. Oh well. Everyone was probably too drunk and too happy.

Oops, meant to include you too on this, Paul.
