This is an '83 Toyota PU...no "donut" tires with it.
I can imagine, being an Irishman, I understand wholly inaccurate stereotypes, "faith and begorrah, etc.".
But, also, what we get here on FR is a huge gulf between Irish and Irish-Americans, some Irish-Americans have an extremely outdated wiew of Ireland, when they see Gerry Adams, they think Michael Collins. Of course most Irish-Americans here on FR are good people.
MMMMMM, donuts....
(i hate changing flats (sigh))
Hope this pays off yer negative motoring karma for a long time, Face!
That you should even have to say that at all is mind-boggling. The word we live in...
word = world.
sheesh
I'll tell you a story of ancestry. I have a longtime friend with the last name Wallis, as in THE Wallace, traces ancestrial ties, related to THE Wallace, has a kilt, family in the old country, etc. My family always claimed the Donald Clan when, during some research, we discovered that the "Donald" great x ? grandmother turned out to be the indentured servant/babysitter who took the children (our relatives) on permanently after the parents passed on from some plague outbreak in Tennessee. We weren't Scottish at all.
With this new info, we traced back to the Italians who married English royalty. Specifically Edward I. Longshanks. Killer of Wallace.
So, I emailed my friend with the ancestrial charts. So sorry. No hard feelings?
He's still nice to me, but I see the hand on his sword and the wariness in those Scottish eyes.....
Yes, that's true. It should go without saying that it isn't safe to assume there is a cap on a terrorist's ambitions and methods!
The nice thing is that whenever something goes wrong with my vehicles, it's always in the carport. I was headed out to get stamps because I had forgotten them, and saw the truck was not sitting right...
I had taken it in to Jiffy Lube this morning, and the goon that checked the tires didn't put the valve stem cap on right and all the air leaked out. Not only that, but I had 20W50 oil that I wanted him to use, and he put Pennzoil in instead of the Castrol.
I'm going to be calling customer service on Monday. When my son was 10 he could pay attention better than this guy, and my son has ADHD.
So yah...it's over with for a while. I get it all done on one day, then I don't have to worry about it for five or six years. ;o]
These islands.... LOL!!
Well, you can have some of MY Scottish heritage! I'll be glad to share with you! Besides...if you're descendant from Longshanks, we're related, anyway...:o]
Perhaps if you and I make a pledge to check more often than 5 or 6 years the vehicles would not rebel so frequently..... nononono... that can't be it.....
I'm captivated by them, for sure. I saw a thing on Discovery last Saturday, and thought of you. A lot of the photos you have posted were shown...it was so cool!
I often wonder about that - are these IRA apologists on FR, are they just misguided fools, idiot trolls - or perhaps something more sinister, Sinn Fein deliberately muddying the waters among Irish-Americans?
That's great! We are descendents from Willian De Bonneville, or Count Bonneville (Bonvilla? Bonnevilla?) who married into the the family a couple generations down from Edward. From what I've read about Edward, we might ALL be related....
I usually take good care of my vehicles for a number of reasons. My truck is old and ugly, but it has a sound engine, and tranny, and it gets me where I need to go. I have it serviced every three months, but I have to say the place I took it to in Vegas never tried to rip me off like the guys here. GAAAAHHH!
The tires probably only have about 4,000 miles on them, so I didn't think it was anything "foreign."
It might be on DVD, now. Check discoverychannel.com and see if there is something there. I wish I could remember the name of the riverboat...it goes from Ohio to Shreveport.
My last car, a pretty little Mercury, lunched a tranny. $1800. Right. Okee. So, I went and bought a 1987 Delta 88 with lots of character, dubbed her "Gypsy Rose Lee", paid a whopping $500, and have been driving her for 3 years. We say she's old, but still beautiful. In truth, She's a tank. I'm scared to death to open the hood.
