Yes, it is late. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to last on here.

Lord:
Even as a flattering dream or worthless fancy.
Then take him up and manage well the jest:
Carry him gently to my fairest chamber
And hang it round with all my WANTON pictures...
Induction Scene One
Taming of the Shrew~Billy Shakespeare
It's art only if it is painted. But what sayeth the lords and ladies of long ago when they saw only paintings and statuary?
Wanton pictures of course. And they hung the works of the erotic muse with pride everywhere from the Vatican to the tapestry that hid the chamber pot. Statuary filled great halls and common fountains with lifesize works of mythical desires.

This is why YOU'RE in the numbers game, and I'm not.
Sorry 'bout that, chief.

I know. 8^)
Truth be told, it's a little inside joke.
How it started is that this was one of the ways I studied my art history last semester--I made flash cards with a picture of the painting (or, in a few cases, sculpture/architecture) on one side, the artist's name, title, date, etc. on the other.
The "raising" came from trying to name other paintings/works by the same artist--on each of our exams, we had two unknown paintings we had to try to identify. This helped us look for similar traits in artwork--we could then look for said traits in the unknown painting and then identify the artist.
I contemplated raising you a Poussin, but decided to add a Rubens--both paintings are emotionally charged and very dynamic--whereas Poussin's works are more appealing to the mind...

I needed a Fine Arts class --and I'm neither musically (can't sing or play an instrumen--does kazoo count?) nor artistically inclined (can only draw, sculpt, and paint flies).
So I took an Art History course to fill that gen-ed requirement.
