It needs to be rubbed down quite a bit, but I just need to get it out of my way and up against the wall. It had been sitting out on this guy's carport for a month, so it's pretty dried out. (I need some beeswax.)

Not quite yet... I have a frightful headache and queasy stomach this morning, so I'm waiting until I feel better. Want to be able to fully appreciate the flavor, don'tcha know. :-)
We had Thunder Snow in Auburn yesterday. Way, way, cool. Lightning, thunder, hail, then heavy snow, for maybe 20 minutes.

Yah, well, Tucson is sort of "in the boondocks," so I'll just look for it when I see it coming. ;o]

I guess Washington is geographically and aeronautically closer than Arizona. Mine came yesterday.

We got "snow" on Mt. Lemmon last night, and I suspect, with the mountain covered in clouds this morning, it's more than "snow." It's probably SNOW! And there is an 80% chance of rain in the valley "tonight." Phoenix is already getting hit.
I just know the wind is nasty and I'm not going out in it any more.

It just shows how different the climates are - if an oak anything was left outside over here, it would swell to twice it's normal size!!

Aww. I hope you feel better soon.
Neat weather.
We are having a sunny day at around 50 degrees today.
We won't be getting the cold weather you are all experiencing until Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

I could have sent you mine.
We have an oak entertainment center that we just hauled up the stairs into what used to be our spare room.
It's in five (very heavy) pieces, so I have the middle piece (TV) angled in a corner, with two pieces on either side again the walls. It looks great, now we just need some lounging chairs.
We had a bedroom set in there, but after three years we've had exactly two visits from family (one only stayed because she needed a ride to the airport) so we decided to put it to better use and donated it to the church. They have stores of furniture that they give to community members in need.
It was solid oak too, so it was fortunate that the church sent two strapping young men to come pick it up and haul it down the stairs. :-)

Here, it dries out and shrinks up. We have to be really careful that we treat it properly. Good wood needs to be kept moisturized here. The desert wind sucks the moisture out of everything. Humans (newcomers) don't realize it's happening until it's often too late.
