Our living room has a large south-facing window, so I've been raising the blinds while we're sitting in there hour after hour. At least he gets sun on his head.
He's looking better, and the doctor should call me about the test results today.
I need to go administer breakfast to a few folks, and then go through the motions of doing some schoolwork :-).
*breathing at you*
I only meant that you really can't force the issue (pardon the pun). And going at it like rabbits, before the window is really here, only depletes the number of soldiers available to storm the beach, as it were.
So relax, have fun when the urge really is upon you both, and put the rest out of your mind.
:)
The idea is this:
Obtain, if you don't already have one, an electric heating pad. (I suppose a hot water bottle would do in a pinch, but the pad would be better.)
Turn it on until it's nice and toasty.
Cover it with a towel or two, and put a naked-all-over Vlad on top of it in the sunlight.
Brace him in position (on his side) with blankets, so he can't roll back. A hat on his head will help to keep him warm.
Between the sunlight on his body and the heating pad below, he should be comfortable enough for 10 to 15 minutes of full-body sun exposure.
If you can do this a couple of times a day, that might go a ways towards reducing the jaundice.
Could you please give me a condensed primer on weight training, specifically the results of lower weight/high reps vs. heavier weights/lower reps? I wonder if, when this 6 week cycle of the bowflex routine is over, I should kind of "switch gears".
Collgate? Or Crest? ;-)
Yep. We took all that into consideration. Thanks for the advise though. I really do appreciate it.
Higher weight/lower reps causes muscle fiber trauma by over loading the muscle group. The lower reps allow for enough energy reserves to push the muscle to failure. Maintaining an adaquate supply of protein in the diet is essential to adding muscle mass to a lagging body part. Doing so without increasing caloric intake is difficult. Of course, adding extra calories also means adding weight, some of it as fat. In body builders, this is normally stripped via crash dieting precontest.
Then there are folks like me. Trying to find a balance between the two. Trying to lose fat, gain in over all strenght, and not entirely adverse to gaining lean muscle mass. I have increased my protein intake by about 75gr, am taking creatine, glutamine, glucosamine/chrondroitin complex, and have increade my water intake daily by about a gallon a day.
You don't seriously think that I'd use toothpaste before I breathe at you, do you?! ;) You're welcome. Good luck, my little spell nothwithstanding. Hehehe.
Thanks! I'll read and then I'll probably have questions for you.
Musta been your naturally "sweet" disposition then... ;-)
I'll answer them if I can. If not, I'll see what I can do to comb through my links and find something to point you in the right direction.
This HAS to be photo shopped... there is no blood in the pic.
Good suggestion.
I found candy wrappers in Anoreth's and Tom's rooms this week. If they haven't lost weight when we get on the scale tomorrow morning, we're going to try a week of Greek Orthodox fasting discipline!
Oh, it must be, darlin'! *wink, wink; nudge, nudge*
Thanks! I do appreciate the effort on my behalf.
Would you prefer me to FReepmail the questions, or are you okay with me posting them here?
Water. Olives. Feta Cheese?
Post 'em where ever you want them. Considering the number of topics discussed on the UT, it isn't exactly out of place.
I hope the modified sunbathing works.
How many wrappers? Oh, wait. Was the giving up of candy for Lent or was it a weight watching thing?
No meat, no eggs, no dairy products, three fast days a week (one meal). I'll teach them to attract ants to my upstairs! They know they're not allowed to have food in their rooms.
Stuffed grape leaves, gyros, etc. ;P
mine!
