The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, he's not ~supposed~ to have such big lips... his chin is extra super red and inflamed... he doesn't want me messin' with it at all.

Hopefully if it was from the bowl, it'll go down right away after getting rid of it. Homer's did.

It is kindof an arty pic :~D

he hasn't had a snow day this year either...

it's his own logic that makes him think since there's no recess when it rains, he could watch tv at home. he doesn't get to watch tv monday-thursday...

Dora is a good start. Maya and Miguel have some Spanish phrases here and there, too. As for software, let me get back to you on that. Rosetta Stone is excellent, but $$$ to purchase.

Yeah, it looked a bit spendy.

I figure there's something out there that's age appropriate and a little less costly. We can move to Rosetta Stone later on.

Actually no. Nothing was backordered. All of it was going out in the same shipment because it was all in stock. And the estimated shipping time was 'soon'. That is all it told me, except for the delivery estimate of April 27th- May 13th. And no options to change anything because it is already in process.

Oh well. The weather is too nice to stay annoyed. Still not going to shop there again though.

Can you cancel the order and order it again?

Weird. I haven't ordered anything from Amazon in almost a year so I don't know if their policies have changed.

It's lovely weather here too. I should do something outside before anime club tonight!

It would be nice if the cartons came with the same spout that OJ containers come with. The little plastic spout with the pull-tab thingy??

Doesn't get nearly as gross as the paper spouts do.

It says I can't cancel because it is 'shipping soon'.

Of course last night he said he wanted to be homeschooled so that he could watch TV when it rained...

ROTFL!! Yeah, but our kids were bummed because they never got 'snow days'. I reminded them that they had plenty of other 'extra' time that more than made up for snow days.

direct copy/paste off their site:

Items shipped on March 30, 2006:
Delivery estimate: April 27, 2006 - May 13, 2006

Does UPS offer a LITERAL 'snail mail' option these days?

They know about the various booby traps and such surrounding you so they're budgeting time to have to send in replacement carriers after the first few get blown up.

That might make sense... except it is going to my off site mail box which has a track record of not blowing up any carriers.

Still looking for some good software. I am going to ask friend what she uses. Meanwhile, here is a website that looks interesting.

You can always look online to see if someone is selling an used program. A LOT of homeschoolers use Rosetta Stone!

If it's going to a post office box they have to transfer it from whatever ground carrier they use (DHL, I think) to the US Postal Service. That usually adds some time to the delivery.

Hmmm... actually, now that I think about it, when I have had things shipped from Amazon they would make the arrival forecast once and then not change it no matter when it shipped. I bet it arrives early next week but the prediction doesn't change.

It is not a post office box and it is going USPS the whole way.
