Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

According to Wikipedia, the LEGO company started making them in plastic in the late '50s. There was another company in Europe that made interlocking blocks, from which the Lego company got the idea. Are your LEGO brand, or are they something else?

That's true. But wanting me to put away a laptop computer that is shut off and just sitting there charging in a room we hardly use is completely unreasonable and I wouldn't do it. He can get mad in one hand and spit in the other and see which one fills up faster.

He admits it's not right, but can't help getting angry over it. It's a ongoing fight I'm not ever going to win. That's really messed up, and I hate to say so. He doesn't 'deserve' to get away with behavior he admits is pretty unreasonable. I feel for you in deciding how to deal with it.

Well, he's not so bad otherwise. You know he's pretty indulgent toward me in a lot of ways. I think we do pretty good, personally...this is just one conflict.

We all have our quirks, I know.. but sheeesh... quirks that merely hassle you over something you like, that bugs me.
I'd not be as accommodating as you... I understand that the computer can be in conflict to spending time with your family. ecurbh sometimes fusses at me when he's hit the couch and I'm still here. But then... I do the same to him sometimes when it's my time to want together time! It's about being responsive and reasonable... not just threatening and making it some power-play. IMHO... I'll say no more. This battle's all yours, unfortunately :~\

Well, I don't want you think bad of him...this really the only thing we really argue over and we don't argue over it very often.

Don't worry about us thinking bad of him... We know he's got lots of sides and this is just one.
We can complain about family to outsiders, but if someone else says the same thing, we close ranks and defend. I know how you feel... You want to vent... but you don't want us to pile on... Really, I do get that. I'll say no more.

Here's another thing, and it's kinda funny.
He's really picky about his food being fresh...unreasonably so, like with OJ or milk, he'll throw it out on the "sell by" date if I don't watch out! Milk is good for a few days after that date and I really believe OJ lasts forever!
So just now I found some leftover steak in the fridge...it's pretty old, but it was encased in a layer of ice so I figured it was probably all right (I keep my fridge very cold). It passed the sniff test too, so I warmed it up.
Just as I was cutting in to it, I had a twinge of guilt to be eating something so good and not sharing it with Steve...but then I thought "Oh, he wouldn't eat it anyway!" LOL!!

Well, I share that with him. Having suffered from eating something that had gone bad, I'm the first to toss something if I even have to wonder how many days it's been in the fridge. More than two days and I won't touch it. ecurbh had watched me throw food out over his objections but no leftover is worth even a little risk, IMHO.
Heh...

I've got the deep freeze and the 2nd fridge turned off (out in the garage). Our electric bill is about to do us in.
We haven't had to use the heat or air for the past few days, though...hopefully the bills will go down!

No kidding... I got the gas bill this month and it was awful. Really hurt my little tightrope budget. But what're you gonna do?

I figure if I get sick, that's one thing... My own lesson about food poisoning happened in college, and me and all three of my roommates got sick from a big ole ham in the fridge we had all hacked at for about a week too long.
It was one of the most miserable experiences of my life, all four of us running repeatedly for the bathroom, sometimes at the same time. When we weren't in the bathroom, we were writhing in pain. We ended up taking one of my roommates in to the ER for severe pain and dehydration they had to put 3 liters of water in him.

Mmmm coffee. I had a cup of Black Chai tea a little while ago, but that didn't seem to hit the spot. I think I'm gonna make a pot of Cinnamon Hazelnut decaf coffee!
