The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I saw a woman about my age that was at an inservice that I attended that had a high pony tail that was crimped and full and feathery bangs. I though it was pretty. I need let mine grow about another 6 inches to get that "look" I'm already getting the "cutting" urge though.

Sounds really pretty. Don't cut it, the urge will pass. Just fix it different, with hot rollers or clips or something.

The suspect was just caught. He had to stop, he was riding on 4 rims. What a moron.

I'm hitting the sack, CD. See ya tomorrow, have a good evening.

I feel pretty good today, a little stiff. I'm eating breakfast so I can load up on Aleve. That seemed to help alot.

13 inches, wow. how much is left?

It's at my shoulders, shortest I've had it in 15 years. It feels great!

Is Aleve ibuprofen?

No, it's naproxin. But it is an anti-inflamatory. You don't have to take so much, supposedly lasts 12 hours.

I've had my hair short for the last 10 years, over the ear short. I had tried to let it grow out a few times, but could never get past that inbetween stage. This past winter, tho, I think because of all the vitamins I take, it grew so fast that I got past that without even realizing it. Now my hair is about shoulder length. Over the last month tho, with some of the hot days we've had, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to stand it on my neck. I've been experimenting with ways to get it up, but that makes my scalp hurt after a while:). And keeping it up is a problem, it's just not quite long enough, and the big clip I use gets snaged in low branches and gets pulled out,,,,With a daughter that is a beautician, you'd think I/we could figure this out. I've got just enough curl in my hair to make it difficult:\

I didn't know your daughter was a beautician! That's great, I wish we had a beautician in the family. Actually, I do have an aunt that owned a couple of beauty salons but they live in California.

I think you are lucky to have some curl in your hair, you have more choices of styles than someone with bone straight hair, like mine. I don't have any fullness in my hair without lots of styling.

I don't know. I'd like to have either curlier hair, or straight. Mine just gets fuzzy:), and it's thick, so sometimes it doesn't look long, it just looks big:)

Jenny has worked for Supercuts for the last 5-6 years, but is in the process of opening her own shop. She is going to go back to Supercuts for a month or two starting next week (maternity leave is over:(, to build her clientele back, then have enough customer base to be on her own. That way she can set her own hours and even take the baby with her to work if she has too. That is one reason she choose this profession.

That's about where mine is but it's layered so the front just short enough to irritate me right now. I can pull it back but after a few hours it works it's way out.

Glad you are feeling better. I live off motrin. I did tax some Excedrin a couple of weeks ago in between the motrin and it kicked butt.
I'm starting to feel good again. I'm cleaning house right now. I can't be out in the sun much right now so I'm going horsing this evening when it cools down. I want to catch up on everything. It feels good to have energy again:')

I don't think riding is going to be a problem today. As long as I stay straight my back doesn't hurt. Bending is the problem.

I'm glad your improving too.

Move to Texas, it's mandatory to have big hair here.

Jenny's plan is excellent. No reason why that shouldn't work out for her. Ya'll live in a small town, right? Small towns need good, privately owned beauty salons. I knew a woman once that would go to people's houses that were invalids and do their hair there. She also did nursing homes.

Roll it, then plaster it with hairspray. That'll keep it out of your way.

I can't lift anything. Are you sure you'll be able to lift a saddle?

Well, I "think" I can. If not I'll have Celia do it. I think the hardest thing will be lifting my butt into the saddle, and Celia can't help there:). I'm standing on my big rock to mount today. Get a boost:).

I'm NOT not riding today, so.....whatever it takes.

Other then getting those big clips snagged in low branches, I've found the best way to keep hair out of the way is a big clip and a visor. The visor holds the stuff not quite long enough to go in the clip. Keeps it up off your neck and a visor is cooler then a hat.

Good Morning.

Home earlier than I expected this morning. Hair that cat is beautiful! Cool pics of the horses too. Here is my new baby. I named him "Soul Man". The white truck is a older (1993) Ford, that the kids bought about a month ago. They have been looking for a good used one for quite sometime. My daughter has been wanting a diesel dually.

Thank you. My truck has OnStar and XM radio with all these buttons in the steering wheel. Not knowing what does what, I pushed a button I thought was for the radio. Well, it was the phone and the computer person or whatever comes on and says something like "number please". Everything is voice activated (glad I didn't swear), and I said "Oh darn" and the voice tells me "Pardon?" LOL. I didn't know what to do, so I just said "cancel" and that worked. I better do some reading on all these gadgets.

I have grown mine out too. I cut it very very short about 18 months ago, and now I have a long ponytail again. I actually find it easier to take care of when it is long. My hair is naturally curly and when it is short it tends to just go whichever direction it wants to, usually that means sticking out all over the place. At least when it is longer, I can pull it back into a ponytail and get it out of my face.

Ever 5 or 6 years I get a wild urge to cut it all off, then grown it all back again. It needs a trim right now because it is getting a bit too long and feels heavy in the pony tail.
