The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good Deal! Sounds like fun. I sure wish I had the time and lived in a place like you do where I could ride like you ride. You need to thank your lucky stars every day for that! I don't envy you the mowing though....well, yes I do...at least you're getting to be outside and I'm stuck here in this flippin' cube farm clicking away on these d@mned keys!

Is this a NEW new truck, or just new to you?

Brand spanking 2006 new! GMC 3/4 ton Duramax diesel. There should be no problem at all pulling my fifth wheel. My 1/2 Silverado did a good job, but if I want to go over Mountains, I better have more truck. I leased it for 2 years. My last day of work is June 2nd. I thought I better get something bought/leased now. What do you tell the dealer? No Sir, no job, I am unemployed, but want to buy a new truck!...lol

I do thank God everytime I climb on a horse here at home. We were such city slickers when we moved here, it was only because of Him that this happened.

Lunch and Aleve break:)

I had about 1/2 of sprayer full, a sprayer that I pull with my mower, of 24D, so I decieded since I had it I would use it. The horse will just have to be content in their runs or the arena for 2 weeks. Any way, I have a run off that runs across our property that gets pretty mushy, and of course I got the mower stuck. I had to lift the back end up to push a rock under it to get it out. Shouldn't have done that. It wasn't good on my back. Hopefully the Aleve will kick in soon. I've been mowing the front yard with my weed eater. The blades on my mower are shot, Mack is going to get new ones put on this weekend, but I feel like mowing.

Becky

Wow! That'll be NICE! You know you'll have to post pictures of it to properly show it off.

Now I am jealous!! That is exactly the truck I want. Once I am back to work (after nursing school) that is exactly what I am going to buy. My '96 Sierra 1/2 ton has 170k miles on it and still going strong. But, I wouldn't try to pull a horse trailer across country with it now but local stuff is no problem. At this age, things start to break and wear out. Still on the original equipment except for oil, air conditioner, alternator and water pump. That year model had a weak original water pump. And, most air compressors and alternators are only good for about 100k. This truck has to last through school though as I can't afford another one right now.

I have kept up with all the scheduled maintenance, changed the oil every 3 months or 3k, and kept the transmission maintained.

Where are the pictures? LOL

It's funny, I've been trying to mow ~something~ every day, and there is just nothing out there that needs it right now. Harumph.

We are in the same boat. We have a '91 Silverado 1/2 ton with 224,000 miles on it. We have replaced the clutch a couple of times. Poor old thing does not have much power going up hills anymore. But it will be a while before we can get a new one.

Well, I think I'm done mowing for the day:(.

Whatever I strained is not getting better. I guess I'll take it easy the rest of the day, so I'll be fit to ride tomorrow.

I'm going to watch Blake play a ball game this evening.

Well, sorry about your strain, hopefully you'll be better with some rest today.

Forum is having big problems... maybe I'm gonna have to find something else to do!

Now GIRL! You're old enough and have a sufficient lack of testosterone to know better than that! That's something you'd smack Mack upside the head for doing. You better take it easy or you're gonna end up too stove up to ride!

Something tells me that you're just barely gonna be fit to roll over in the morning, and maybe not even that.

Did you hurt your back? I did, too. Yesterday I was at Wal-Mart buying dog and cat food. I was feelin' good, just got my hair cut and it felt so free and light, I got about 13 inches cut off. Anyway, I was throwing around my new 'do, showing off, bent down to retrieve the big bag of dog food from underneath the cart, swung it up to the register and krickkkkkkkkkk there goes my back. That's what I get for showin' off.

I was nearly sitting on my hair.

I'm watching a live car chase that just went by my place and is heading towards the Oklahoma border. He's riding on 2 rims so you wouldn't think he'd make it all the way to Oklahoma, but he's giving it his best shot. Armed robbery suspects.
