CHICAGO - A northern Illinois resident reported finding a birds head in a can of pinto beans, prompting a Chicago-based food company to announce a voluntary recall on Friday..
La Preferida Inc. said in a statement that it was recalling a limited number of its cans as a precaution. The company says the beans were canned by New Meridian Inc. in Eaton, Ind.
There are still many unanswered questions, but we have decided to err on the side of safety, said David Brand, La Preferidas director of quality assurance.
The company is investigating to determine how the bird head got into the 15-ounce can, he said. The Illinois Department of Public Health and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are also investigating.
Luz Marrufo, a 28-year-old nurses assistant, told the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb that she found the birds head Thursday while preparing breakfast for her three sons. She said she purchased the can at a grocery store in Aurora.
I dont think well be eating beans for a long time, unless I make them, Marrufo told the newspaper.

I'm aware of the importance of both protein and fibre, but haven't these jokers heard of the bird flu?

...she found the birds head Thursday while preparing breakfast...I think people who want beans for breakfast should rather eat bird's heads.

Any relationship to the woman with the finger in the Wendy's chili?
That's my beekoncern. I don't think this is claws for alarm, so I'm not getting my feathers ruffled.

Side order of Wendy's Chili would be nice. Would provide a finger on which the bird could perch.

Was it a cardinal sin for this company to do this? There's a flicker of hope they can get out of it. without major damage

I doubt that--a settlement will probably be more than management will swallow.
